I'm very confused - so if any of you know MSN Messenger and can PM me and help me figure out what I am doing wrong - that would be great.

All I know is everytime I try to open it - I get an error message.

I do have yahoo messenger but some of y'all don't seem to be on it.

Try PMing Dawn (Aurora369) or Ryan (Beatryder), maybe they can help.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling? I hate computer glitches. :crash

I was gonna say that, but figured shutdown first, sometimes there are programs that you have to, should be prompted for it though.

Also, if it wasn't working right after getting into it, check the tabs in preferences. Connection, privacy and general preferences are also things to check.

Hey Peg... what exactly does the error message say? Do you have a firewall on your computer? When I upgraded to window's messenger I had to go give permission to the program in my firewall settings...

I gave up on MSN messenger once it turned to the whole live bit.

I use Pidgin: http://www.pidgin.im/

It's an instant messenger program that you can use for almost all instant messengers like MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ...

The interface is a little bit different, but not hard to use. If MSN is still giving you problems, try Pidgin.

I think when I updated my Messenger, I had to find it in my programs files.

It's now called Windows Live Messenger. :)

I'll log onto my Yahoo Messenger real quick and see if I can help...add me...I'm manerwoman_rosie there.

Sorry to butt in, but maybe when it installed, a glitch occurred because the previous one was not shut down properly. It can also be that you have both installed and they conflict with each other. That or you have an anti-virus/firewall blocking it.

I suggest you go into control panel, delete any Msn Messenger/ Windows live Messenger that you find.Once done, restart the computer. Then you can redownload the website. If it doesn't work, let me know, I will find you the previous version to reupload on your pc.

:)

Edited to add: I am not reading this board. Lol I just saw the msn post and thought maybe i could help. :p

Thanks everyone - I'll probably restart my system tonight or this weekend and see if it helps - if not - I'll do what y'all suggest..
