Two years after graduating from high school and facing many set-backs, I'm finally following my dreams and doing what I've always wanted to do. On September 5th I will be starting at the Vet Tech Institute here in Pittsburgh.

I was accepted to Brown University in 2004, but at the very end of my senior year my father passed away after a long illness. I deferred my admission for a year, but when it was time for me to matriculate I decided that I wasn't sure of what I wanted a year after my educational plans were first made (during that time I spent most of my time working and volunteering at a local shelter). I spent the fall of 2005/spring of 2006 working part-time and taking a few classes at the University of Pittsburgh, and during that time I decided to that this fall I would enroll at the Vet Tech Institute while taking classes at a local community college so that at some point I can finish my BS and attend Veterinary School.

I found out about my acceptance this morning and wanted to share my good news with everyone here.

I will be celebrating the beginning of my semester at the same time as my 21st birthday. Unfortunately, this celebration will be alcohol free as I am severely allergic. ha ha

Congratulations. Isn't it great to be accepted into a program that you are really interested in.

Oh wow, I am glad you are doing what you want to do.

Congrats, I wish I could afford going back to school. I want to be a vet tech for exotics. As in guinea pigs and rabbits.

I see your from Pittsburh as well. So am I.

Congradts!! I have one year left at the MATC Veterinary Technician Program. I just finished my first year and internship. Get ready for a very fast paced but rewarding year! :bunnydance:

Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes. I am a little nervous, but mostly excited. My days will be pretty packed. Monday through Friday I'll be at the Vet Tech Institute from 8:30 AM until around 3:30 or 4:30 PM and then Monday through Thursday I have night classes at a local Community College from 6:00PM to 9:00 PM. So, my days will be pretty full. But my weekends will be for the men in my life; Oswald and my boyfriend.
