After I found the jacket I wanted on ebay(I have had a North face jacket for the past 9 yrs; it is leaking feathers but the best coat I ever had)) and payed for it with paypal I started reading about all the multitudes of phony North face jackets being sold off ebay.

The jacket I found is supposedly an older model but new coat which is what I wanted . it has an attached down hood.

I then e-mailed the store ( Canadian) and told them that if the jacket was not authentic that I would know it and wanted a refund . I told them not to send it if it is not authentic as I can tell the difference. (which I could)
but I don't know if I will get it, I doubt if it is authentic and I probably lost my money!!!

I cannot believe that I didn't think about all the phony stuff being sold on the internet.

Uh oh! How much did you spend on it? What is the store's return policy? I have had awful luck with eBay in the past (even though I chose reputable sellers to buy from). I just bought several things from eBay though and I'm hoping this time around I'll have a better experience. Good luck with the coat, I understand how incredibly frustrating something like this can be.

I spent $150.00 for the coat and $30.00 for shipping
I didn't even bid on it .

this is the first time I ever bought anything off ebay
I am a fool...................
then I do my homework afterwards.
I don't care about the name as much as the quality; it is the only coatI ever had that actually kept me warm

If it is a phony it will be cheaply made and just a waste.............
STUPID STUPID STUPID

the seller has good feedback but according to 'The North face Guru" a website that is set up to sort out the chaff from the wheat....even the feedback can be rigged.

Maybe i am overrreacting
if the company doesn't have authentic North Face stuff then I cannot see how they would just send it out when I sort of threatened them

I don't know .......

Also, checkebaysrefund policy. Im pretty sure if something doesnt come as it was advertized they will do a refund or at least you can file a claim against the seller if the seller wont refund it. I think they have a guarantee and so does paypal so double check both. You might have a claim against them if its not what they advertized it as...

If you get the jacket and it's not authentic, but was listed as the real deal, definitely file a claim through eBay and Paypal.

Also, if you paid the money, but don't receive the jacket *or* a refund, file a claim. When you bid or do Buy It Now, it is a legal contract, not only for you to pay them, but for them to send the item to you.

I wouldn't worry about it right now. While there are shady sellers on eBay, there are also reputable ones. If the store's feedback is good, while it can be skewed, there is less likely to be a problem.

the store contacted me this AM stating that they have authentic products , HOWEVER, thye feel it best to refund my money.

So I guessthe coat is authentic enough to tell me that it is authentic but not authentic enough for me to see it :D

I am lucky I caught it before they sent it.

Some stores may have a super reputation but don't want to risk a negative feedback - especially from a new person on Ebay. I don't know how many times I've been on Ebay and checked out feedback and found out that 1 or 2 dings were from new Ebayers who had bought something but it didn't come "fast enough" (maybe they didn't realize that book mail was so slow) or they hadn't read the full description, etc.

I'm guessing that if the store you purchased the coat from has excellent feedback (I consider anything over 98% to be excellent) - then that may be their experience and they just don't want to risk the negative....which I do understand.

According to the North Face Guru website some of the positive responses are rigged.
I told them I wanted the coat if it was authentic
If they aren't sending it to me it isn't authentic
