OK, this is an odd post, but I had to share somewhere! My husband doesn't come on this message board. It's the only place online where I can share something and know he will never read it. LOL

I'm sitting here at the computer, working on my sketches of Ookpik and Newt, reading the boards and watching my other computer screen. On the other screen is the screensaver. I have it set to scroll through photographs I've taken. One folder it seems to take a lot of photos from to display is the folder of my daughter. Over and over again I'm seeing photos of her as a baby, a toddler, etc. She's only 8 now, so it's not like she isn't still my cutie, but there's something about those baby and toddler photos that just make me coo.

Now, my son is only 11, and as I mentioned, my daughter is only 8, so being a grandmother is no where in my near future. As for having another one myself...that's out of the question, both financially and physically (I've had things removed, tied and burned out).

I guess I will just have to find someone around me with little ones to cuddle.

Thanks for letting me share. :D My husband would go nuts if he knew my mind was traveling in this direction :p

Does anyone out there want another little one, but not really want another one, but wish they hada little onearound to spoil?

I understand perfectly how you feel (sorta). In fact, Robin and I were discussing it yesterday.

My kids are 23 - almost 24 (twins). I LOVED LOVED LOVED being a mommy. We homeschooled all the way from K-12 (the kids were involved in other things so they weren't home all the time) and to this day - we're still a really close knit family.

I'm 47 - almost 48. I think now I could handle motherhood a lot better - be more patient in the early years - enjoy it more and have a better perspective about it - knowing that during those early years "this too shall pass".

I miss being a "mommy" although being "mom" is pretty darn cool. But those were in many ways - the best years of my life - the years when I was most fulfilled.

Yet the thought of having a baby at this age....well...it is possible. But I don't know that it is preferable.

Its like I really miss what I don't have - I'd enjoy it more now than I did before - but I really don't think it is the right season of my life to go back and do it again.

Still yet - if I were to get pregnant - I wouldn't be too awful upset.

Anyway - I have mixed feelings....part of me would love to have another child - to do it again - and part of me goes, "No way...enjoy what you have and be content..".

I think the "be content" part is winning out - at least for today!

I don't know if you're a stay-at-home-mom or what, but maybe you know of a family with two working parents that you can "nanny" for during the day.
I know a woman with 4 kids of her own (from about 3rd grade on up to their 20's) who baby-sits an infant.

The "be content" side of me wins out most days. I'm actually taking care of my two nephews this week, and it reminds me why I don't want three. LOL

missyscove, it's amazing that you said that. When I was growing up, I always thought I would be a nanny. I never thought I would get married or have kids of my own. I actually had one of those "back-up plans" with a friend of mine. He was willing to be the father of my kids (no strings attached) if I was still unmarried with no kids at age 30. I guess I didn't need to use my plan. heh

I'm just learning to walk again, so watching kids is out of the question. I may take some part time work next summer with a childcare center, to hold the little ones...or just "volunteer" so I don't have to do any of the dirty jobs. ;) hehe

Haha i cannot wait to be a nanna...i'm going to spoil my grand children terribly and then i'm going to pass them back to daddy :p

I didn't want any more kids for a long time then I sort of do here and there... same reasons plus my son is a senior this year. It's hard seeing my "baby" grow up. It seems like yesterday that I was rocking him and watching him destroy the house LOL!

Technically I could have another one but I am 44 and physically the 2 I had nearly killed me. I literally almost died delivering Luke.

My hubby - he'd have a housefull.
