Sorry to scare anyone. I'm working for the online advice site, Just Answer. I am currently ina discussion with someone that needs to be turned in for animal cruelty, however I cannot ask for their address, nor would they probably give it to me. However, the animals they have need to be taken away from them ASAP.

They have two guinea pigs who live in a wire botton cage in a garage, where the cars are parked. They are purposely on red cedar, even though they know it is dangerous, they 'like the smell'. They aren't getting guinea pig food because it is 'too costly', and now both guinea pigs have fly strike, ulcers, and bumblefoot. They refuse vet help, and only want to know what home remedy they can use, like neosporin, for the problems.

I want these people turned in, but I need some advice. Is there any way to get something done about this over the internet? My moderators and managers aren't online right now, and aren't picking up the phone. I'm wondering what I should do, I am STEAMING mad at this person. I am about to make up a question about temperature, and ask what state they are in. I am hoping it is near me, I'll give them straight cash for those little pigs if they were willing to sell. I'd go as high as $200, but I need to see what state they're in.

Anyways, anyone know how I should go about getting something about this done? Any advice?

that's sad that someone would treat a animal that way.....:(

Hmmm does the ASPCA have a e-mail adress you could e-mail them.

Sounds like you need a good hacker. But even with that, I'm not sure you'd be able to figure out his name or address.

If they have flystrike though... my guess would be that these pigs won't be in that hellhole much longer.:(

What program are you using to chat with. Some programs respond to a /who command to locate an email address, IP address and sometimes additional information.

Ah, then yes, you'll need one of your admins to dig deeper. :( Be as friendly as possible. Ask questions that draw out local information about vets names, small pet store names that you could do a google or yahoo search on...etc.

If that doesn't work, why not just be up front about it and say you'd love to help them rehome the pigs with someone who could treat their illnesses if only on a "temporary" basis?

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Hopefully you can still help them.

BTW, I agree with you naturstee, if it is indeed fly strike, they'll be dead soon. At least they won't be suffering anymore. :(

I wish they would be in my state, I'd buy the animals off them, then turn their [bleeping] [bleeps] in. A lady I know who also rescues told me, oh, you never PAY for a rescue animal. They need to be relinquished to you. So what, if they don't want to give the animals away for free, the poor things should sit there, suffer, and die? Bull[bleep]. Most of my rescues were relinquished, or rescued off the street, however I have ponied up some dough before just to entice an owner to hand over a pet that was living in a cruelty situation. I may not have much money, but if it'll get an animal out of a bad situation and over into my care, I'll pay what I have to.

Stupid people just.... I'll shut up now. Trying to keep it clean for the kiddies on here. But you all get the idea.

Elf Mommy, once they reply with their state, I'm going to talk to my admin if it's not in my state. If it is, then I am going to entice them to hand the pigs over to me. If it's NOT in my state, I am going to talk to my admin about turning them in. However, the company has a policy when youpost questions. They claim they do not hand out and reveal any personal information, blah blah blah. I have a feeling the company will not go for it, because they don't want to get in trouble for taking the person's address and turning them in.

Just an update, the idiot never did respond yet. However, some of the customers take a day or two to ever get back to us about their questions. Hopefully he'll respond soon.... idiot. :X

its wonderful what you are attempting to do to help those poor little pigs. I can't stand stupid idiotic moronic people that abuse animals like that.:gun:

Oh no, you should have asked me friday before I deleted programs off my computer... I'll be home really late tonight email me with the message board and thread I'll see what I can do for you :shhhh.

Are you sure this person isn't just flaming you though? There are alot of dumb people who really need a little more to do with their time. I used to work an fish board and once a week someone would come on with an "i have 4 oscars in a 40 gallon" (these are BIG fish and need 50 gallons each full grown) and they are just trying to get your goat - they don't own fish!

Nes.

Nes and SweetPea, it's a message board format, but it's for a company I work for. Only people who work for the company can have access to the board. Customers pay money to ask a question, and then I answer the question. When they accept the answer, I get 50% of the earnings.

The idiot never replied back or anything. Poor piggies are probably dead now. Sad to say, but they are better off that way than the suffering they were going through. :?

Doesn't fly strike kill pretty quickly?

Sad to say, although they suffered, fly strike does tend to kill very quickly. Poor babies :(

At least you tried :hug2 You may have been one of the few people in the world that really cared about them, and I don't believe that will go unrewarded :pink iris:

Well, 4 days later, and the customer writes back. They said they do not want my opinion and would like to speak to another Expert.

I passed it off to my Admins and told them that I hadn't even answered the personyet, but that they must be getting nervous with the questions. The customer KNOWS this is an abuse situation, and is trying to cover his ass. The Admins see that too, but said there is nothing they can do.

Since there is absolutely nothing I can do, I handed the question off. I already feel helpless, so there is no sense in me starting a war between me and the customer.

I admire your determination! I used to have little guinea pigs, and the owner you described sounds like he doesn't even know they exist. I don't really know of any way to coax his adress out of him, sorry, but good luck in getting him turned in!

maybe what you could have done is gotten their name and went to whitepages.com and searched for them and gotten a few names that matched and looked at states and found out that way, especially if they pay to ask a question you should have their names. at least thats how ive found out where certain people are and stuff.
