My rabbit is a year old. I just got him today. As soon as I let him out of his cage he hopped under my bed and has been under there for 4 hours or more. How do I get him out?

Okay this isnt the right place for this a mod will move it for you and welcome to the forum by the way!

Back to you bunny - Has your bunny got food and water under there? If not put it out from under the bed and when he gets hungry he should come and scavange for food then you should be able to catch him - when you do catch him i wouldnt let him out again becuase you should leave him in his cage for a while to get used to his new home.

If that doesnt work I am sorry i don't know what to do!

Moved to Nutrition and Behavior by yours truly.

My rabbits automatically head straight under the bed if they get access to the bedrooms (which they normally don't, but we do have accidents). It sounds as though your rabbit is being kept in the bedroom? If this is the case, consider getting some NIC panels to block off access to the bed. As far as getting them out from under the bed, I have a yardstick that I use to gently scoot them out in the direction of a 2nd bunny trapper. My Sparky actually will run back out to the "approved" area if I tap herbutt a few times.

My first concern would be making sure their is nothing under your bed that puts him in immediate danger, like cords or outlets. You can look under your bed with a flashlight if you're unsure. If heisn't in immediate danger (which would require drastic measures)then you could try coaxing him out with a broom or something else that can be used as an extension of your arm (like slavetoabunny suggested)

Well if all else fails there is always coaxing the rabbit out with some parsley or cilantro! My rabbits will go anywhere there is parsley orcilantro.Especially Oreo!

If he is really young just a tiny bit as I think that the younger ones are supposed to be introduced to vegetables at a certain time. Also, from what I have experianced, rabbits can have extremely sensitive digestive systems. My rabbit Miley, gets an upset stomach if there is something new, if she is nervous, if something scares her. So be really careful and slow about introducing new veggies and the qty. Oh I just read he is a year old. So you don't have to be as cautious as a rabbit that is months old.

Welcome to the forum! And good luck getting your rabbit out.

Great suggestions here! Did you get him out and to his cage safely? I always get behind them and they get running into their cages most of the time, haha.

Give us an update when you get a chance!:)
