I need a ramp

any sites? or how did you guys make it? I am using a dog crate right now for her cage. It does still have that spacer part for the growing pup.. I can use that for the floor, but I might just use left over nic peices so it'll be smaller.

I use wooden bird ladders for ramps. You can get them at most pet stores.

You have to cover the rungs so the rabbit won't hurt itself. I justuse pegboard or other rigid material. I use zip ties to attach the covering.

now does it have to be a certain angle? Im worried about making it too steep. or is it as long as they have enough traction?

mine is about 45 degrees, and maomaochiu uses it fine. I used the same metal wiresas his cage. i also fixed some sand paper on it in hope of trimming his nails naturally. it seems to work a little bit, but not a whole lot, but better than nothing

My ramps are not steep at all. I use the large bird ladders and they do well.

I have one in a 2' x 3' dog crate and it just fits (comes down from the shelf all the way to the front of the crate).

I posted on this elsewhere, not sure i have any replies yet.....what would keep the bun from slipping & falling off the side? I was planning on using a board but assumed i'd have to build up the sides & add "blocks" for traction....what's the maximum angle that can be used?

maomaochiu never slips or falls, though 45 degree is pretty steep. so i would say it will be fine for your bun without the blocks and protections

I just have trouble imagiining that. I don't see how she could control her descent with nothing for traction.

I use two NIC cube grids for a ramp. I haveput them overlapping eachother, and secured them together using cable ties. I have then attached a seagrass matt onto the top of the ramp using cable ties for grip. Its very sturdy and the buns love running up and down it.

i dont have ramps.. each shelf is a 1 NIC cube high... i think maybe 14 inches:?

Eve, i'm not sure what you mean by "overlapping"....does sound like it might be easier than my board project, which would be a fair amount of work.

Hi Bunman

By overlapping, I meant thatwhere thetwo NICgrids are joined in the middle, part of one grid goes over the top of the other one. This way you can adjust the ramps steepness to however you would like it to be.

I have a fatty who was eleven pounds at her heaviest and never fell off the ladder ramp I used. Mine is close to the side of the cage, so it only leaves one side open. I coverthe rampsin either pegboard (rough side up for traction) or thin indoor/outdoor carpeting. That gives them plenty of traction.
