With Summer's situation I need to get myself in gear and get a decent camera.

I want something that can take amazing pictures when I have the time and patience, but that also has a point and press facility too.

Do DSLRs have the point and press facility?

What camera do you have?

Any suggestions or anything?

I have a basic

Samsung S860 8.1 mega pixels

Zoom 6.3 - 18.9 mm

Digital cameria it wa about 120 bucks pretty cheap as far as camerias go. But works great for me. I can do videa and pictures. And it is pink

This is the link below for my cameria

I also wanted to add I love it I just got it in Dec and still love it I like the fact it comes in blue pink and black. Ican take a picture in complete darkness and see the odject I am taking a picture of cearly in the pictures and I have pictures of my neices in mid run its great

I have a little pink Sony Cybershot (7.2 megapixels) point and shoot. I love it! It might be like a DSC-W55 or something? I can take video with GREAT sound (considering its a point and shoot), there are lots of color settings, takes very clear pictures. It also has a series of 4 really bright flashes, not just one. So you can easily take pictures in low (or no) light. :)

When you say point and press do you mean as in not having to adjust settings etc, just aim the camera, press the shutter and it autofocuses and everything? Most DSLRs have that setting, so you could do that, or if you felt like getting to grips with more of the manual settings, you could do that to.

I have the Canon EOS 400D and love it, but I think it may be discontinued now? The next model up is the 450D, which is the same except with more megapixels and it has Live View- which means that you can take the picture just by looking at the LCD screen just like with a compact camera. (I'd love to have this option!)

You can also get cameras that are sort of halway between a DSLR and a compact camera- I think they're called bridge cameras? I personally really love Canon but Nikon are really good as well. I've also owned a couple of Fuji cameras in the past that took really good quality, bright images.

Erm.... Not sure if any of that helps at all lol! :p But a good site to look at is www.dpreview.com - it has sample images of a lot of makes of camera, so you can see how the pictures would turn out, plus user reviews etc :)

I have a FujiFilm FinePix S700, it has a 10x optical zoom and 7.1 mega pixels. It's a nice point and shot camera, I personally love it. When looking for an upgrade from my last camera it had been given high praise online in reviews and great for the money.

You have done well with your Fujifilm camera. Is there anything wrong with it?

I was at a camera show last Friday. :D I got to see the newest models (some are not yet out, but will be shortly). How much do you want to spend?

It broke :( At Christmas and since then I've been using my mum's which I seem to have some sort of inability to use (hence why the pictures have been lacking).

I really like the look of the one Happibun has.

I know nothing about cameras, but definitely I'm not going to be spending the sort of amounts that Jen's one cost.

I'm looking at roughly £100-£150 but if I found the right one I could go higher, but not over £200, I reckon.

Thanks for all the responses guys, I'm looking up all the cameras and learning as I go :D

Fujifilm seems to have that problem. But they are good for low light situations.

I am impressed with the new Fujifilm F200EXR which I saw at the show, but for that amount of money, it would be better to get a beginner DSLR.

Come to think of it, my past 2 Fuji cameras broke out of the blue as well. :?

For your sort of price range, this looks like a pretty decent camera:

You may find it cheaper on other sites- that was just the first camera site that popped into my head!

But I haven't looked at any reviews yet- I'm just about to run out the door....

My best friend has the Fuji one that Happi Bun has and she loves it! She's got some really good pictures with it and she's not all that camera savvy. I think that it takes XD memory cards if I'm right? But I think they're fairly cheap...

I have the "bridge" between a point and shoot and DSLR, its a Fujifilm s100fd. 10 megapixels, 12xs optical zoom and I LOVE it. It's got your point and shoot (auto) but it also has all the manual options too, I havn't figured those out yet so just use auto but the auto pictures I take I am really happy with it. Over here, were everything is over priced it was $500 but that would translate to about 150p i think.

:yeahthat:

I had a FujiFilm Finepix 5 yrs ago and dropped it twice, got it fixed once but it was a great camera but was looking for better features. I bought the Kodak Easy Share C340 and if this goes I'm definitely going back to FujiFilm.

I personally have a Canon Rebel XTi, and adore it.

But something on the lower price end but still really nice is a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS. My friend has that one and it really is a great little camera.

I love Canons. :p
