I know there are some here with birds...I need new ideas!

I make bird toys for my mom's ring-neck-cody

I'm fresh out of ideas!

he doesn't like--
leather
plastics
rope

will chew a little and then leave
wood

he does like
cherrios/fruit loops
the color red
finger traps/chew tubes

I've done your basic stuff...muffin paper, coffee filters, popsicle sticks ect...

anybody with bird have any suggestions? he did destroy the wicker wreath I gave him for christmas... I mean SHREDDED!

I make stuff for Lola Bunny too...but she's more into stuff you can toss across the cage and make noise!

the paper ribbon? they sell it in a long roll around here made with food coloring aimed at birds my guys love to destroy it. course you could just get him wicker wreaths or baskets ;-)

Oh and I forgot to add we have 2 ringnecks and 2 cockatiels.

Have you tried seagrass or wheatstraw shredders like this...?

I've tried the ribbon but he caught his foot in a loop that shouldn't have been there (from that point on, I send mom instructions! LOL) and now wants nothing to do with any part of it!

where do you get the shredders from? those look right up his perch!

if I soak some of the wood pieces/rawhide pieces (from old toys) in apple juice is that safe? maybe different flavors would get him interested?

You can get the shredders at Petsmart. I buy them sometimes and put pieces on my rabbits' hanging toys. The same company also makes some awesome little pinata things out of the same material.

Have you tried balsa wood yet? It's really soft and they can almost shred it more than chew it. I saw it on Bunny Bytes and the bird site they get someof their stuff from (forget it's name, sorry). Some rabbits just love it, especially Dora, and it would be something different to try with the bird.

Paper bags/parcels with fruit loops, etc. inside? They're cheap pinatas!
