]....and she is hiding under a cabinet in the bathroom.
I went to the vet's last week to buy Oxbow and they had a sign up abouta cat they were treating. Kitty was found almost dead by astaff person at their other clinic. She had been shot so manytimes the side of her head and neck had split open.

After four surgeries, much treatment over 4 months and manyantibiotics, she was healed and in need of a home. As soon asI saw the picture, I knew this cat was for us so I called the staffperson at the other vet clinic.

It's a small world because the person I talked too turns out to besomeone I know. Her name is Genevive and she is also avolunteer at Stay-A-While Shelter. I couldn't believe it whenI heard her name. Gen rescued this almost dead cat and tookher to Dr. Hammond's Euclid clinic for her 4 surgeries andtreatment. A friend of Gen's was fostering her until a homecould be found. Dr. Hammond also does some rescue and adoptscats out of his clinic.

Today we drove over an hour to go visit and adopt kitty. Hername, at the moment is Bee Bee and she is a one year oldcalico. The poor tiny thing has had a terriblelife. She is people friendly but timid. My catsdon't pay much attention to new kitties - it's kind of like 'hi kitty'and they keep on going. Our cats are so used to strangersthat a new cat does not bother them, there is no fighting orintimidation.

Any way, Bee Bee's new name will be Maneki Neko, Neko forshort. Maneki Neko is the tri-color good luck kitty inJapan. I hope to have some before, during and after surgerypictures to post soon. Neko is extra special to us since werecently lost our 16 year old Cookie cat. Cookie had bonemarrow cancer which was not treatable. She was also acalico. Please welcome our new cat family member.

omg, that poor kitten, how could any one do such athing to a defenseless animal that is just torture, and these kinds ofpeople get away with it and then they go and choose another victim, somepeople are just down right nasty ugh i could go on and on about thesekinds of jerks......

im so glad that someone found her and got her some treatment, and im sohappy that you opened up your home, your heart and your lifeto this little kitten,at least now she has a happy and safe home whereshe will be loved safe and secure and where she will never experiencebeing hurt by a human again.

Hi Neko! Hmm, I think I've seen this story already today... getting a little confusing!:D

I miss having cats. I don't think I want to have one with theway my house is built. Kitty would have to be on the mainfloor or the basement, not both, unless she was an outdoor kitty toowhich I won't allow.

Aww...welcome, little cutie!!

That's great to hear how well-adjusted your kitties are to a new friend! It's so rare...it's nice to hear!

Poor baby...I'm glad she made it through, and now has a great home witha loving family to support her through such a rough time. :)

Welcome, Neko!! :colors:

P.S. Maybe someday you'll be able to get a picture of herholding her paw up like the kitty you named her after is always in astatue doing. :) Cute!!

It makes me so mad that people can be so evil,:tantrum:but it warms my heart to know that such kind peopleas you (and the others who helped her) are so dedicated to giving theseanimals the happy life they deserve, :hug2I hope Neko will bereally happy in your home, it sounds like the perfect place for her.

I am so proud of you, seniorcats. There should be more people like you.

I used to have a cat named Neko-chan. She was a stray, but my mom's friend has her now.

Awww, poor little Neko. It reallysounds like a miracle that she survived. Actually, when you think aboutit, it really is....she is left to die, someone saves her, she ends uphaving 4 surgeries, then survives against all odds to be adopted by aloving, caring family. These are the kind of miracles we take forgranted sometimes.....the REAL miracles that happen. We need morepeople like you, Genevieve and that caring vet in this world. Good luckto you and Neko and please post some pics soon!
