So why oh why did I do this?
I....love her....
And her name is Mercy. (Mercedes).
She looks like a squirrel. Comes when I call her, comes when I even speak to her. And sleeps with me. I bought her as a barn cat (actually she was free) and now I'm afraid to let anything happen to her. Though i'm sure she'd just follow me around the yard all day. She can't leave my side without crying.
So yesterday my friend Melissa came over, her ferret has been missing for over a month. Since begining of Julyish. And it was her favorite one, a little baby girl named Jupiter. Melissa was soooo distraught. I lent her a live animal trap, she put up flyers all over her trailor park, She called for Jup every night, spoke to everyone int he park, and even took her other 3 ferrets out on a leash looking for Jupiter. She even had a ferret-hunting party. Yours truly was invited. No sign of the little beast.
So yesterday she came over, I made her dinner and she asked if I wanted to go to Petsmart with her to get ferret food. I said sure I'll tag. She also wanted to stop at another privately owned pet store I used to work for on the way. Her friend had called and said the ferrets there looked bad and she should have al ook and turn the guy in tot he HS. So we stopped in and were browsing, the ferrets looked lifeless and she's looking at this one ferret int he box and she's like '' She looks like Jupiter......OMG ITS JUPITER!" And I was so skeptical. I mean.... Ferrets only come in so many colors, There could be 5,000 ferrets tht look like Jupiter. And I tell her this and she's like '' no no its her I know its her, don't ask me how I know, look she stands up when I call her name!'' Sure enough, the little bugger's ears stood up and she lifted her head up when Melissa called her name. But she could just be responding to the noise. And I tell her this and I tell her ot try calling it different names. And I'll be darned, After multiple rounds of '' Henry! Jimmy! Frederick! '' She didn't move until Melissa called ''Jupiter!!'' So my little hamster wheel in my head starts moving. Maybe, just maybe....what were the odds though?
The owner of the store, Dave, finally comes in and I tell him that my friend wanted to talk to him. She told him her story about the ferret. And then a guy comes to bother Dave about a chameleon and he tells MElissa ''one second this is important I do want to talk to you though''. Well he sells the guy a chameleon, meanwhile MElissa is in tears chain smoking outside ont he sidewalk. Dave passes me and I give him the ''I'm getting impatient look'' and he leans over and tells me '' Thats her ferret, theres no doubt in my mind that that's her ferret." And leaves to go talk to reptile guy.
Melissa comes in and Dave pulls her aside to talk to her. And he's like " About 3 weeks or so ago, a guy comes in here to sell me that ferret. Right about hte time yours went missing. This guy lived right behind you in the trailor park. He said this ferret just came walking up his driveway into his garage while he was working. And what bothered me is that he said he knew some girl was looking for it. And he brought it here to sell it. This is your ferret." And he pulls Jupiter out of the bin and hands it to Melissa. Free of charge.
And Dave was also giving away an adult cat who seemed to love me so yeah we each walked out of there with a box.
