So today I drove to the farm where I board my horse. The last time I was out there (2 days ago) I got a bit of training done with him, so today I wanted to give him a break and just spend some quality time with him. I gave him some grain, fed him 4 apples I picked from the tree, gave him some apple treats, and some hay.
I've had him for close to 2 years and he was abused for years by his trainer/owner before I got him. When I first got him, he was a very scared horse and didn't trust anyone. Anyone who saw him could tell that his spirit was completely shattered. It took ALOT of hard work and patience to get him to where he is now.
Now, he greets me with hugs (he rests his head on my shoulder for the longest time), when I brush him he falls asleep, and he loves to have his face stroked while I whisper to him and give him kisses.
2 days ago was the first time he let me hose him down (it always terrified him before) and today after I hosed him down the first time he kept going over and standing by the hose so I'd do it again. I wound up hosing him down more than 6 times. He was in a snuggly mood during that and kept wanting hugs and kisses so I wound up getting covered in mud, but hey, it's how us rednecks do spa day in the south.
I didn't think it was possible to love an animal so much. :hearts:
