My boyfriend had mentioned it last night and I shot the idea down. I still kind of am.

But when he came in from work and I mentioned loosing my whole litter, and I had a doe that did have one earlier, and I wasn't sure if she'd have more. He had said to bring her in the house. And I reminded him I've 5 who are possilby going to have little ones tonight/tomorrow.

So he said this weekend he'd clean out his extra tool shed. He mentioned it last night, and I just don't want to deal with finding pans and cleaning that out. But he said we could bring the two hutches he made in the building, and then hang the hanging cages up over top of them. It would be easier I suppose. And I atleast wouldn't have to worry about wind.

Soooo, I need ideas on bottoms for these cages. Right now, I do NOT have funds to get rubber bottoms and stuff. So any other ideas?!

If you have some scrap wood you could make stands for the hanging cages to sit on. I have some of my cages like that. I took 2x4s and made a frame and put plywood under them to make a trough and I line it with plastic and put shaving in it. The cages sit on top of the 2x4s. I have these in a rack 3 high and they are more stable and easy to clean. I just remove one cage to the floor and clean under it and then slide the other cages over clean under them and then put the other cage back up.

he had mentioned something like that. The way he made his cages, the lids open up at the top. So I'm not sure how much room I'd have for legs and frames around them. And the only problem with moving cages is its a huge hassle, and with some of my hanging cages being 3 wide, its just too much to do all the time.

But modifying it some way may not be so bad, where the cages could still hang, but have a 'shelf' under them with the plywood. That way the cages stay, but i can still do what you're saying.

haha, thinking out loud. Thanks VERY much for your help
