Yep... I slipped on the snow at bedtime (for the critters)tonight and fell which wasn't so bad, but while I was pulling myself up, Braveheart (our blind sheep) came running towards me (I had treats) and hit me right in the face (bad timing!) It knocked me down and hurt like heck - he got me on the right side of my face, so my cheek and eye are swollen and black and blue... trying to keep the swelling down so people don't start giving Kevin the evil eye, he's not so surethe story about the blind sheep would hold up

The impact is what did it -but the poor guy can't see a thing so it's not his fault. Usually he just runs into my behind and that doesn't hurt so much! lol

Ok... *Restrains from giggling* I'm really sorry... That sounds awful painful... But the way you wrote it and the visuals... One can't help but giggle... Especially the part about Kevin. I can just picture him defending himself... Lol. But um yeah please keep some ice on that :?

Knowing me though i'd be like "Look what he did to me?!" LMAO. Just to see the looks on people's faces. Lol I am evil I know... But the oppurtunity is just too beautiful. Lol.

Hope you are numbed for a bit :?

OMG that hurts so bad! I can't imagine it on your face. Sheep heads are hard anyhow cause they ram stuff all the freakin' time! We have a friend with a HUGE suffolk ram and he goes headon into a steel bar regularly! :craziness

I'd use that bruising to my advantage...... tell Kevin you need bling.... or you'll tell everyone it was a bad night at home! LOL! ;)

Poor Braveheart just wanted some goodies. What do you give them for treats? Ours will eat grapes and most of them like applesauce. Salad is a big hit too!

Holy smokes, I can only imagine the pain of that.

When you are feeling better, though, that is one funny story to tell..
Feel better. Perhaps it will make you feel better to post a picture of your black & blue face? :>)

My son had a big lamb drag him over a pen made of pig panels one day. It's been 3 years and he has this huge scar that runs from his armpit to his waist.

Sheep are unbelievably strong for their size. Teach alamb to push for show and be unprepared..... you will definitely be knocked over!

Well thankfully the swelling has gone down and the bruising isn't too terrible- but it hurts! Your right Bo - seeing that I have not yet recieved ANY Valentines Day presents, I'm going to completely turn on him lol.

Indeed our sheep love grapes too, carrots in really small pieces, etc. But they love their bedtime grain which is special mix I get made at the feed store. They just get a tiny bit each at nightime in the winter but they LOVE it.

Eileen! lol

I know Bo, sheep can be terribly pushy! I had a friend get attacked by a ram once. Thankfully the only ram we've had here was 13 years old... came here to retire, so he liked to be rubed and was really laid back. Both our boys don't have all their "parts." That must have been awful for your son, scary and painful. Ouch.

I had a bull go after me one time... I didn't think I'd live to see the end of it, it's terrifying especially when animals that you think you can trust start throwing their weight around - but I don't blame them for it, it's instinct, hormones, etc. The odd time it's intentional but not usually.

PoorBraveheart is not pushy with me, and if he's out in the middle of the field and I call his name, he will stop eating, put his head up to listen, and then say one, baaa, then listen, and if I answer, he will start running in the direction he hears me calling from. He comes everytime. :)

We have our feed mixed too. I have to drive about 45 min. one way to my favorite co-op!

Most of ours have been real sweethearts. One of the first wethers my son had would give hugs! My horse does as well!

Too funny, but not really! I hope you heal quickly.

I'll never forget the time I was inWalgreens after being in a car wreck. I know people thought I had been beaten - everyone stared and innocent kids make the most abrupt (and embarassing) comments.

I had to have stitches in my lips - so they were huge and bruised, my eye socket had been fractured so I had two black eyes and I had a splint stitched into my nose after the septum was restructured.

Needless to say, while it was easy for me to forget my looks I was most definantly an attention-getter during the whole healing process.

Speedy recovery, Trailsend! You know that there are special creams in the drugstores for the bruises so that they go away quicker, so you could use one, if you feel embarassed by people without manners staring at you. You could also use some dark makeup fluid to cover up most of them until they heal. You know, I'm awfully jealous of your location being "middle of the woods" and your living with many different animals, including...a blind sheep. The more time passes by, the more I get convinced that I should have been born and raised in a big farm and not in a concrete and asphalt pested city.

There is a picture of baby Braveheart and all grown up Braveheart on my blog :)

Thanks Marietta, I know about the creams - I make my own healing Salve for people and critters :)from scratch, so I am using some of that. For some reason lastnight the right side of my face swelled up and now appears to be infected. We are treating it, but my jaw and eye are starting to hurt so we may have to go into the hospital tonight if it gets worse instead of better. No idea why this would happen. Hurts like heck! We've put antibiotic cream on it and I've got it bandanged, so hopefully it will start to calm down and not get any angrier. and we do live way out in the bush Marietta - it's really great. Hard in the winter, but we manage. I'm just so sick of hauling in trees, and splitting and stacking firewood this winter. But spring will come.

Thanks everyone for your kind words - and for laughing at me! lol I know it is funny, it was even funny at the time after I got through the inital shock of it. I'll keep a closer eye on that lambie from now on though! :biggrin2:

I had to laugh when i read this, just the tiltle itself is funny. Hope your face gets better fast and that there is no infection going on. Did you kiss Bravehearts head, just in case you hurt it with your head :roflmao:

Hi, Trailsend! Is your face any better? I hope the swelling didn't get worse and you didn't have to go to the hospital.

YEAH! I wonder if he's ok!!! ;)

I hope you are doing alright. A close friend of the family got kicked by a colt one time and she had a heck of a time. Her face ended up turning green when the bruising was starting to heal.

Keep us posted.

Hi guys! I am doing much better today - while my face is still swollen and really sore, the swelling has gone done tremendously. So I think it's going to be O.K. and hopefully in the next few days it will just heal up completely. :)Thank you for checking in on me, I appreciate it :)

Oh, and Braveheart is just fine, his head is much harder than anyone elses on the farm for a number of reasons! :biggrin2:
