When I lost my camera last week I decided it was time to get a new one anyway. Ive been shopping around and really wanted the Canon A710 like MBB has (her pics are always beautiful) but it was just a little out of my price range. Well, I was going to get the next one down, but today I found the A710 on sale and it came with a photo printer as well!

It has Image Stabilization, which MBB says is awesome for pics of the bunnies. Plus 6x zoom. It even has great video capability so Im very excited to get shooting. Tumnus is gonna hate me :p

Im excited since I dont often buy things for myself. :biggrin2:

This is awesome Haley! You deserve it! We often buy things like this for ourselves, the come Christmas, we don't need or really want anything:shock:. It works for us, we get stuff on sale, especially electronics:D. My hubby is a freak about electronics. He just got this laptop I am using right now for $599 as opposed to $1000;).

Congrats! I will look forward to tons of pics of all your babies.

I'm so glad it worked out for you. I love mine so much. It's got so many customizable settings yet there are also settings so easy that my parents could use it. They have a lot of neatsettings that I haven't managed to figure out myself yet, lol.

I really like the image stabilization, it allows more freedom to without using flash which I really hate using with animals.

Can't wait to see pictures.

P.S.- The video is awesome on it as well.

yay for new cameras!
Does anyone want to buy my camera? ;)

The best has become better.
Nikon just came out with two brand new cameras (they won't be on sale until November).
In the world of technology, the top Nikons can shoot at 11 frames per sec, and their new 51 point AF tracking sensor will follow Pebbles around in perfect focus.

In realitymy D200 is just fine. I don't need another camera. I am so bogged down with the pictures I take now. It is the photographer not the camera that makes good pictures. I'm just lucky to have good subjects.

Tomorrow, something newer and improved will come out.

So Haley,it was good timing, for you to find your A710 at a price you could afford.
Enjoy your camera!

I dont know much about mine. I have a Kodak Easyshare z740. 5.0 megapixel, 10x optical zoom.

Ok I am happy with mine.

Megapixels:
5 Megapixels

Optical Zoom:
10 X

Digital Zoom :
5 X

LCD Screen Size:
1.8 in

The Kodak EasyShare Z740 camera unites a 5.0-megapixel imager with a high quality Kodak Retinar 10X optical zoom lens (38-380 mm equivalent); the KODAK Color Science image processing chip for rich, accurate colors; dual-sensor, low-light precision auto focusing; and multiple shooting modes for optimal creative control.

The Z740 camera offers fully manual controls, permitting independent aperture, shutter speed, flash and exposure compensation, ISO equivalent and other settings that can transform an ordinary picture into a work of art. The camera also features aperture and shutter priority modes, as well as 18 scene modes. Saturated, neutral, black-and-white and sepia color modes lend additional in-camera creative options. Its dual sensor, low-light precision auto-focus system combines rapid phase detection with highly accurate through the lens (TTL) contrast detection to precisely fine tune and sharply define a subject, even in almost complete darkness. Continuous auto-focus provides 0.42 second click-to-capture time (with preview on)
Using the high-resolution TTL electronic viewfinder (EVF) with diopter, as well as a large, 1.8-inch high-resolution indoor/outdoor LCD screen, photographers can preview shots or review pictures stored in 32 MB internal memory or on optional SD/MMC cards. Not only does the EVF show control settings superimposed over the scene, but it also eliminates parallax while presenting a nearly 100-percent field of view. The indoor/outdoor LCD assists photographers in clearly seeing the fine detail of their compositions before and after shooting, even in direct sunlight. Both LCDs exhibit high refresh rates, and automatically brighten or dim to reflect changes in exposure compensation.
The Z740 is part of the KODAK EASYSHARE System, so sharing your pictures is one-button simple. Simple sharing starts right on the back of the camera, the on-camera Share button lets you tag favorite pictures to print or email later. Favorite mode shows off your favorite pictures anytime, anywhere in an on-camera picture collection The included KODAK EASYSHARE Software works seamlessly with EASYSHARE Cameras and Docks to enable one-button transferring and sharing. It's the easy way to view, edit, organize, print or view a slide show from your computer. The exclusive One Touch to Better Pictures feature automatically adjusts the settings on your inkjet printer to give you traditional quality photos when printing on KODAK Inkjet Photo Papers.

Haley-

I hope you don't mind me asking. That is the same camera I've been looking at buying recently. Where did you find it on sale? Do you mind telling me the price you found it for? You can PM me the info, if you want. I am so excited- cause I have been eyeing that one for a while!

Hehe this is the review for Haley and MBBs Cam.

The PowerShot A710IS features seven-megapixel resolution together with a retractable 6x optical zoom lens and, for the first tim e in a Canon A-Series digicam, Image Stabilizer Technology for steady shooting at all zoom settings. The A710IS model incorporates 20 shooting modes from fully automatic to fully manual to achieve optimum results for any photographic application. The A710IS is also compatible with optional wide angle and telephoto lens converters, as well as a close-up lens and a wireless flash unit.

The A710IS offers ISO equivalent speed ratings ranging from 80 to 800 with dramatically less noise at ISO 400 than previous PowerShot models. The camera also features a large 2.5-inch 115,000-pixel LCD color monitor with wide viewing angle, making it easier than ever to review captured images and even to do limited in-camera image editing and retouching.
The A-series cameras have many of the latest advances in Canon technology including the proprietary DIGIC II imaging processor and iSAPS Technology. Canon's DIGIC II Image Processor is designed to improve processing speed and image quality, so DIGIC II provides markedly faster startup, autofocus and playback, plus it assures that every image is more colorfully vibrant. iSAPS Technology is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC II Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance. Consumers benefit from accelerated image transfer speed (when used with a USB 2.0 compatible computer, printer, or other peripheral), thanks to the inclusion of a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port.
Canon enhanced the ‘My Colors’ mode found in the new PowerShot line. Where previously, users could only enable ‘My Colors’ while shooting, the current iteration permits captured images to be retouched as well, without the need for special software applications or tools. Available My Color playback modes include Vivid Blue, Vivid Green, and Vivid Red; lighter and darker skin tones, as well as options for creating black & white, sepia, neutral and positive film effects. A color accent setting turns all colors but the one selected by the user to monochrome and the color swap mode enables users to alter specific colors in an image by sampling another color from the same image or any other image on the memory card.
Like all PowerShot digital cameras, these newest additions to the A-series work seamlessly with Canon’s petite SELPHY Compact Photo Printers – an essential PowerShot accessory. Consumers simply connect their PowerShot digital camera to a SELPHY printer – such as the SELPHY CP510 and CP710 models. Press the lighted Print/Share button, and within seconds , images emerge. Presto! It is that simple. Canon’s SELPHY Compact Photo Printers are PictBridge compatible. They work with PictBridge enabled digital cameras and offer excellent image quality and ease-of-use, especially when paired with a Canon digital camera. At 28 cents-per-print, printing photos directly from a digital camera is both easy and affordable.

Powershot A710IS Features:
  • [size=-1]

  • Program AE, Shutter-speed priority, Aperture priority and Manual modes
  • Pre-programmed creative scene modes for beginners
  • Movie mode w/sound, 640x480 / 320x240 30fps up to 1GB, 320x240 60fps up to 1 minute, 160x120 up to 3 minutes

JadeIcing, I really used to want a Kodak but I found one major flaw with it. The Kodak EasyShare cameras have a problem with the lens retracting. That's not to say it always will happen but I've heard many people with the same complaint -- the camera will work great for a while and then one day the lens wont retract back into the camera. After that point, the camera wont work at all. This isn't a once in a lifetime problem, it's happened to a lot of people after about a year and the company won't repair it. Sincelearning about that, I won't go with a Kodak.

I've also used my sisters Kodakand I'd take the Canon over it any day.

The only complaint with this camera is the large LCD screen really drains the batteries, which I expected. I just turn it off and use the view finder instead of the screen and batteries last so much longer.

Oh and while yes it does have to do with the person taking the photos butit also has everything to do with the camera as well. ;)And, well, our photo subjects are really adorable so that's a plus.

No problem :)It was $250 (plus tax) at Circuit City but you have to buy it in store. It comes in a bundle package with a photo printer. The printer is kind of cheap looking but I tried it out and the quality of the print was quite nice. The camera alone at Circuit City was like $280 so it was a steal to get it for $30 cheaper plus the free photo printer.

Aww. I just checked their website to get you the link and it looks like its not on sale anymore :(I know they did just lower the MSRP on this model (since theyre coming out with a A720 this fall) so watch for it to be on sale.

Thanks! That's too bad about the sale being over, that was a great deal! I'll definitely keep my eyes open for it to go on sale in the future. Have fun with your new camera, can't wait to see new pictures from you on here!
