I found an out of state breeder that didnt laugh me out of house and home when I asked about possibly delivering rabbits to my area.

Now, If I can just affoard the rabbits and gas once everything is settled I may be set!!

I just hope nothing pulls the rug out from under me. I've just not had the best luck in a while.

Unfortunantly one of her rabbits was at a show last week, isn't feeling good now and needs to be vetted, so I don't know what the chances of her being able to be sold will be. It's a shame too because I :heartsred eyed whites.

I'm assuming this will come together or fall apart within the next week or so. I dont want to say too much and jinx myself but please keep your fingers crossed for me!

This could be Christmas and my birthday wrapped all in one for me.

I'm working on trying to get the death-row bunnies pulled and transported from the MD shelter, should I still be doing that?

Not sure what you mean by breeder bunnies? Are they in trouble or you just want NZWs? If it's the latter, they're in every shelter, rescue and humane society in the country, nobody ever adopts thosebunnies.

s :?

I don't see any reason to stop with the MD bunnies. I have a chance to get a rabbit from a breeder and in this instance if it works out I will.

They aren't New Zealand Whites, but English Lops. I have yet to find one needing to be adopted (a purebreed, or even a possible mix) anywhere in my area, state or surrounding states.

As it is, there are very few breeders in my state even, and the lady I've been in contact with today is one I initially e-mailed almost 3 months ago. This lady isn't even in Missouri but may be traveling around the holidays.

The very few I've found on petfinder are usually in foster care - or the facility they are at won't hold them long enough for me to drive out, fly out - or secure someone to adopt for me (and arrange transport)

oh well

Oh I'm so jealous of you getting an E-lop. I think they're so neat.

Of course, I'm spoiled and Flemish are my choice hands-down....

But E-lops are neat too....I hope this works out for you.

Here's a picture of her from the breeders website:

Still no word on how she's doing though. :(

Here's part ofthe e-mail abouther that I received on Sunday:

It would definitely be an all day trip to and back. I am counting down on the days before I am laid off from work, which will certainly give me some free time to make the delivery, but I would have to have compenstation for my gas/vehicle wear and tear to make the trip that far then.

I may have to pull the white doe off sale. She went to a show last week and doesn't seem like herself right now. She is not eating much so I may need to keep an eye on her before I can offer her to a new home.

I haven't gotten any updates yet. My top pick, if I were to get an English Lop would be a REW but I'm not really holding my breath at this point.

Oops, my apologies! :embarrassed: Not sure why I was thinking NZ's, I was really wondering!!

(Maybe it was thatround of meat bunnies stuck in my deficient little brain!)

I'm all for going to breeders for harder-to-findPBs (just not pet stores), hope it works out!

(If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask, can't go up as a rescue, but as a 'favor' or a breeder forum post is fine, you never know who might just volunteer). ;)

Hope that bunny is okay, please keep us up-to-date.:?

LOL - Red eyed whites always seem to bring up the New Zealand breed. ;)

Aparrantly she is getting better, possibly experienced stress from travel and a show. I WANT her, my "dream" breed and a REW at that.

I have serious doubts about it happening now, though.

I have a dog at the pound I just don't know WHAT to do about. I don't really want or need her but we're out of room and I feel sorry for her.

All rescues have puttered out on her - she's only 5 months old and deaf - no potential adopters because of that and I have a kennel FULL right now and absolutely NO empty spaces for any incoming animals.

If I bring this dog home she'll blow my *mad money* I had saved for a new rabbit (or rabbits) -

I can recover the money in a few work paychecks, but timing is *everything* with both the dog and this rabbit.

I'm waiting for a call from a rescue today to see about the dog but I'm not holding my breath. She's been held for a few rescues that had to back out for different reasons. One simply never showed up to claim her, even after faxing all of their information and tax/state ID's.

Now I wish I had stair stepped doing Taps, Skeet and Blue's Neuter/Spays (they were done on Monday) so I hadn't spent so much all at once.

It's not really about the money, but new additions all at once and some being more of a handfull than others I guess.

At least the "resident opossum" keeps me entertained. Yep, he's STILL hanging around.

I'm uploading a piccture of the dog right now.

All right.. she's at my house now:

I'm running her to Arkansas in the morning for a rescue willing to take her. They want me to look at their animals and zee if I think they have any there that may be more adoptable in this area...

I'm almost an hour behind leaving as planned but the good news is one of my friends in Springfield has agreed to meet me there, and then take the dog the rest of the way to Arkansas. That gives me a little free time today which is good.

This pup is awesome but not trained AT ALL, and at 5 months old a little too "wild" for me to want to work with right now with her age, lack of training and deafness.

Still, there is something special about her. I just can't put my finger on it yet. Maybe it's the deafness since I have a girl of my own who is deaf, but I truely think it is more than just that.

Just a small update, the rabbit made a full recovery. However, I have decided to no longer look into having an English Lop. Personal decision, not out of frustration.

Star (the dog) is scheduled to me placed in her adoptive home on January 5th.

Alls well that ends well.

WOW she's beautiful! I just hadn't seen the doggie! I would love to have a special needs dog like that one day. I've seen dogs who were deaf that could understand sign language. That's why I trained Sydney some things in sign (sit, down)

I'm glad she's going to a good home :)
