My rat babies :)!

After much thinking, I am going with my heart and told Ryan that I am making my own decision for once...and getting my two rat babies.

They are ready on June 1st, but my friend Emily and I will be going to pick them up on June 8th :D. We have to drive 80 miles one way to pick them up!

They are 17 days old now and the cutest things ever. There are actually 4 boys in the litter, but I decided that 7 rats in the house is too much for me...so I am only getting 2 boys...which will mean I will have 5 rats .

Pictures :):

Boy #1: The girl thinks he has ruby eyes and is a Verigated Cocoa or Chocolate color w/head spot...

Boy #2: Either Verigated Chocolate or Cocoa capped w/head spot, with black eyes...

The girl, Fran, has handled them from birth...so they are super charming! I decided to go with my heart because she really needed homes for this rescue litter from Petco that someone dumped off. She still has 10 babies left to rehome. Some of the girls in the litter are just adorable, but I don't want to have to spay girls...too risky for me.

These two boys will go in my Super Pet Exotics cage, then in a few weeks once the Rat Nation cage is released (I hope in a few weeks)....I will start intro's and they can all hopefully live together peacefully :biggrin2:.

LOL i figured you would ;)I didn't actually expect you to even consider rehoming your other rat. lol. I said it because it would make you react and see really what you wanted. hihi. They are gorgeous! I want the first! I am guessing you are waiting to meet them to name them?

When i saw that i thought it was the rats name! Thats my name! I can't imagine a rat being called Fran!

They are so cute, i've never had rats, only hamsters, but i'd love one, they're so pretty!

I rather like the name Fran :inlove:. Nice to meet you Fran i am Fran too, and I think Amy should name one of the rats Fran, lol, Fran is a unisex name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad I am getting these boys, too. I wish I could take all 4 boys, but I just don't think I want that many ratties...and Ryan would really freak. He doesn't even know that I am getting these two...he's going to be so angry, lol.

I know lots of ratties that are named "Fran" or "Francesca" :p. I'll need help naming these two boys :D! I like common, yet not-so common names. My other ratties are Spartan, Ralphie, and Louie...my bridge rats are Fayl and Leonidas. The first little boy looks like a "Bernard" to me...lol. He reminds me of the elf from that one santa clause movie.

I am so glad you are going with your heart on this. I know Ryan might not be happy but it is your house too and I think you can work things out.

I'm horrible at names so I'm no good there....but congrats on your babies - I can hardly wait till you get them even though I am NOT a rat person.

I'm with Peg on this. It's your house too and it's what you really want. Not like you haven't THOUGHT about it long and hard too. I'm glad you're going with your heart as well, Amy. They're very cute, btw!:D

Lol, I told Ryan and he is not happy. He thinks we should get Jupe (our kitty) a friend instead. First it's "no more animals", then it's "let's get Ju a friend".

When he says that stuff, it makes me rethink what I should do.

Men :foreheadsmack:.

Tell Ryan it will cost a lot more to keep up with the cat's vet bills :pDoes he change the litterbox? I doubt it right? Two cats will smell much more quickly than one :pJust use any argument you can think of. Tell him I can't have any so you have two ratties in my honour. There problem solved :biggrin2:Lol.

True, MsBinky. Ju is MY first kitty and I am not sure that I want another one...yet! lol. Ju is a totally momma's boy now and I really enjoy his company, I don't want another kitty to steal him away just yet :p.

Oh, and no...Ryan doesn't clean the litter box. Ryan doesn't clean or feed any of the pets :grumpy:.

I know I want the ratties badly and I need to not listen to Ryan this time . He was just a bit mad because that is going to be more vet bills in the future (a cat would too, duh!)....but I have been super lucky with my rats *knock on wood*...and most (besides Leonidas) have been healthy. Louie has only had to go to the vet when I first got him for a URI.

Aww, Amy, congrats on the new ratties. Your new ratlings have made me kind of want more ratties. We were at Petco the other day looking at the widdle baby rats. I know most of them will be eaten by snakes :( My sweet Coco (Colby Jack) is starting to look old now, he just turned 1 a couple weeks ago. At least Stevie (a year and a half old) is still looking good. I have a big cage, lots of toys and hammocks and stuff...

You know I won't talk you out of it, Shiloh! Let's both get two baby boys each :biggrin2:.

I am going to a football game tonight with some ladies and then I will be home later, I am hoping by then that Fran will have new pictures of my boys for me :).
