My sister and her family were evacuating from houma la. to alabama... they never made it there ... they are stuck in mississipi because someone hit hem and totaled their car... we heard from them at 8 am this morning... they were all ok then but all hurting really bad( they have not been able to get checked out by a doctor Yet)please keep them and other people effected by the hurricane in your prayers... from what i heard Houma is getting hit pretty hard.... her brotherinlaw stayed in houma and says that it is bad that reports of windows shattering. and things like that

Oh no, how horrible.... Where is your sister and her family now? Are they safe?

How worrying for you.... I'm thinking of you and your family, I hope they are all ok...

luckily a friend of the family lives in mississippi and they are at her house... I will try to call them later (maybe i will be lucky and get thru)

talked to my sister... they are all ok ... she started crying(which she rarely does) she can not find out about her home ... noone has been able to get to it... all she hears is rumors... she thinks she might be able to get home friday at the earliest... she is so heart broken about no longer having a car and possibly not having a home... but relieved they are all ok

That would be so hard, I can't even imaginehow awful itwould feelthat your home may be gone. :pray:for your family and all the other hurricane victims.

Talk about adding insult to injury!

First they have to leave home, then they might have lost their home or had damage...... and someone has to go and total their car?!

I hope things look up for them.... but thank goodness they are all ok!

they have been thru hurricanes before...and they have always lucked out... Katrina hardley any damages... rita - the levies around their home broke and they flooded and had to be evacuated out of their home- no damage to their home ... but now they are really nervous about this one.... I wish I could get her here to my home... I know she won't come because she wants to be closer to her home

((hugs))

What a nightmare!

I really hope some of this gets resolved soon and as easily as possible. What a terrible run of luck :(

You all will be in our thoughts and prayers here.

they made it...Woo hoo.... they are at my dads house about 15 minutes away... I am letting them get some rest since they drove all night ... i will go see them this afternoon... i haven't seen them since jan.

Aww, I'm so glad to hear they made it there safely! And I'm sure you'll feel better for seeing them in person as well...

Have they heard any concrete news about their house yet?

Thinking of you and them

I had a good visit with my sister... it took someone all day yesterday to get to her house and check it for her.... this person had to cut thru peoples back yards to get to her house... so many trees down on the road... she has damage to her home not sure how bad ... but it is fixable... her bil tried to get to it today by road to hook a generator up to her refridgerator and could not get down the road.... he will try again tomorrow... the hospital she works at was severly damaged and she don't know when she will get back to work... her husband works there too... he can work as soon as he gets there because he is a master carpenter for the hospital... also the other hospital was severly damaged.... there is no hospitals operating in houma at the moment

Living in a hurricane prone area, I can say that I am so sorry for your sister's losses. Looking on the bright side - they are only monetary. I worked disaster relief during the 2004 Florida hurricanes and it was so hard to work with those that lost all of their possessions.

she has been hearing stories from friends... one friends ex husband let her dogs out of the pen instead of putting them in the house he just let them go one dog got cut in half by flying tin and debreise killed the other dog... and a friend of a freind lost everything she owned... her house was hit by a tornado and wiped it out.... there is nothing left.... my sister was told it could be a month until power is restored ... there is so many trees down and most of the power lines are down... I am keeping everyone in my prayers that has been effected by the hurricane....

my sister is back in louisianna... they are not home yet... they are staying at my nephews apartment which is 3 hours away from home... they still can't get to their house... now they are watching ike... she says if they are going to get hit by another hurricane it might as well be now before they start repairs....

Oh, the poor people!

Between losing personal property and pets what a horrible situation to be in :( Is your sister and her family physically safe right now?

Everyone is in my prayers as well.
