Hello Everyone!! I am going to be gone for 24 hours and I am extremely worried about my rabbit. I tried to get a pet sitter but my father refused. I tried telling him about GI stasis and he said it was a lie. So the only thing I can do I prepare my rabbits enclosure, what should I do?

A few months ago, I was gone for almost 24hrs to sleep over at my cousin's house, so before I left at 7PM, I made sure to give him his veggies for dinner, clean his litterbox, added lots of extra hay and even made a temporary hay rack with a box just in case he ran out (might've been excessive but it made me feel better). He drinks a lot so I gave him a second bowl of water and I gave my mom a bag of his pellets to scatter feed in the morning. I came home around 4PM the next day, gave him his bowl of veggies, and spent the evening giving him extra pets and kisses to say sorry lol.

My mom had the day off so she was able to peek into his room a few times to make sure everything was okay and sent me some pics. Would your dad or someone else be willing to just check up on your rabbit while you're gone?

I asked if my cousin could come over, (they live less than a mile away) he said no, he doesn't like people coming into our house, I could maybe set up a camera

Aww okay, I think giving the extra hay and water should be good. I had a pet camera as well so I could check in on him but then I found out that he somehow chewed through the cord, lol

Many people in the rabbit community leave their rabbit out all the time all day. I plan to do the same with thumper after he gets neutered. Just give him lots of hay and water and he sounds do fine😊

24 hours he will be fine, as already said above just make sure he has lots of hay and water, if he uses water bowl maybe you can get a drinking bottle as well so he won't flip the bowl over and you are sure he stays hydrated. I use bottles for most of my rabbits, but one who uses bowl I need to refill her bowl a few times a day maybe 5-6 times a day at least, so you won't be able to do that when you are away.

I have to water bowls that clip to the side of his cage, they hold 2 cups I think

I just want to echo what everyone else said: they'll be fine.

I used to be scared to death to even go to work with Sir Lawrence at the house (before Lucas came home). But over time, I've learned to leave them for a day. I do a good clean before I go, leave them plenty of hay (a absolute ridiculous amount, in fact) and water (they have reservoir-style bowls that hold about a gallon) , and give them their dinner just before I go.

The only thing I'd watch out for, though, is the cold shoulder when you get home. Lawrence used to stay mad for about a day after I came back from being away, but now he's gotten used to the idea that I'll come back. And having Lucas as a roommate probably helps, too. But early on... that bun could hold a grudge!

@SirLawrence I'm interested in your reservoir bowls because I refill my bunny's bowl 3 times a day. Is there any particular type of brand that you'd recommend?
