I have a new hydroponic gardening set up and I wanted to grow some flowers to supplement the rabbit's diet. This way I know they are chemical free. I have been searching the internet to find out which of the flowers are safe that are offered by the company. Here are my results so far:

Safe: Calendula, lavender, snapdragon, zinnia

Not Safe: Dianthus, geranium, marigold, primrose

Unsure: Coreopsis, brachycome, gazinia, petunia

If anyone has any experience with these specific kinds of flowers I would appreciate it. If I can't find a source to say they are safe I will not use any of the unsure. I would rather be safe than sorry.

I'm just so excited to use my set up. A frind at work gave it to me because they weren't using it anymore. Now for $20 in supplies I can have a hydroponic garden with flowers and herbs! :)

Do an internet using plant name [ideally the scientific name] rabbit toxic. I may be mistaken but I believe I saw somewhere that lavender shouldn't be given to pregnant does or they'd abort, but maybe it was some other plant.

Yes, that is true about lavender. Luckily both of my girls are spayed so I don't have to worry.

I tried looking them up on line and got all kinds of crazy hits. At least with the searching I was able to know for sure some safe and some not. I can't wait to order the seed pods tonight! I think the kids are going to love having fresh flowers to garnish their evening salads. :)
