Depends on the individual rabbit and how quicklytreatment is started. In some cases, anti-biotics can help tocurb outbreaks. I've had some survive -- some not.Out breaks tend to cycle -- I've been lucky not to have had an ME casefor a while. (ME is now called mucoid enteropathy).

i think our new flemish wolfgang mayhave it. taking to the vet tomorrow morning. wepicked up sat from breeder. had very loose stools, today has a tad bitfirmer stools but with alot of brownish/clearishmucus. it at times will drip from his bottom :( ihave him on a oats and hay diet only. he is drinking loads ofwater. is there anything i can do in the mean time til i gethim to the vet in the morning?? i dont want to loose himalready .....

also is this something that will pass on to kipper?? he has not shown any signs of loose stools

Can be brought on by stress. Wouldn't be too concerned over Kipper if he appears fine.

The excessive drinking is often seen in cases of ME.

Give bunn a little pepto or kaopectate to stophim fromgetting dehydrated. Tiny bit of baby aspirin can help withpain.

Don't be surprised if cocci show up in a fecal test -- the parasitecommonly over populates the gut during stress or illness. E.coli or other bacterial infection is a concern with ME, so vet mayprescribe antibiotics.

Keep us updated . . .

for the pepto which i do have onhand how much should i dose it at. he is 4.75lbs. hes been very active so far, runningin the house and playing, tummy doesnt seem to appearbloated but from all the research it really soundslike the m e . is there a highchance he wont make it? i emailed the breeder tolet her know also what was going on. my poooooor baby:(

Give him 1/4 of a teaspoon.

I think it's a good sign that he's still very active. Be certain he has plenty of hay and remove the pellets.
