Hi everyone,

My babies (ELs) are 5 weeks old today (how time flys ). I was just wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on how to get them to stay still to pose?? I can't get them to do it for anything. I have been trying to teach them for a week now. They are always on the go go go! Any suggestions??

Thanks:biggrin2:

I would always start my babies out once their hair came in. Mind, I worked with mainly Mini Rex and Holland Lops. Don't expect the babies to do free hand(without your hand on their head) posing for awhile. Work with them everyday, do not skip a day. Pose them up and when they stay for even as little as 5 seconds let them up and pet them. Normally I would pose them 3-5 times each time with a little break in one session. All posing is hard to do, trust me. With hollands they do not want to stay up and with Mini Rex they lean or won't hold their legs right, it just takes practice.

Have patience. They are still young. Handle them every day. I like to put them on the table, (alone!) one at a time... and pose them, even if you have to gently hold them the way you want them to sit. Don't force the issue. Make it part of their play time/ petting time. And even if they hold it for 10 seconds, it's good practice.

Don't expect them to sit for very long... have patience. As they mature, they willget used to being handled, carried and posed, and will accept it as natural. And it will be wonderful tohave a well behaved rabbit on the table and get compliments from the judge on how nicely your rabbit sits!

Good advice :)

I tend to let my babies out for playtime for a while to let them get some energy out of their systems then I do a pose. I actually start them off in the palm of my hand and as they get bigger I use a speaker in my living room as they have nothing to do or interest them on it. and once they have mastered that they get posed in the shed on the bench :DIts a long process but Like Blue giants says its well worth it when they behave well on the table :D

As already mentioned - have patience. Take them out a little everyday and work with them on posing.

One thing I've noticed about junior EL's is that they are little pistols on the show table and most of them don't like to sit still! Very hard to get ear measurements on them! They generally getbetter as seniors and will stay posed.
