Recently, our one bun has started chewing on the "handles" of her litter box, which is actually a bus tote (the kind used to remove dishes from a restaurant table). The plastic material is actually very hard, yet she's still managing to get bits and pieces of it.

I'd like to hear of any suggestions I might try to deter her from chewing on this box before opting to give her a glass (or metal) baking pan. (I realize that it may come to that option.)

I'd like to note that this bun has CPS ("cow-pile-syndrome") symptoms; her digestive system doesn't "handle" non-food items as well as other buns' system does. (She once literally ate a portion of a litter box [made of softer plastic]; it took her about six months to recuperate.)

Thank you,

Jenk

Hmm, I don't know what else you can do to get her to stop chewing the box, but I'd opt to go straight to a metal pan. Glass might be tricky. It could break, it could be heavy. You can try to look in a restaurant supply store to get some of those metal pans they use in buffet lines. Depending on size there are some 4-6 inches deep and various sizes. Fairly cheap at a supply store.

I agree that a glass pan would be a tad too heavy to lift--especially when filled with wood-stove pellets for litter! We have a restaurant supply store located about 30 min. from our house, which is from where we got the heavy-duty plastic bus pans. Guess I ought check their website to see what metal offerings they might have. :)
