I just started to give Pippin a little capsicum a couple of days ago and Pipping LOVES the stuff. He's 5 months and i first gave him 1 strip to try, he gobbled it down, so i gave him another strip, he gobbled it down so i ended up cutting half of it into strips and letting him eat it. No change in his poo so i think it agrees with his stomach, but is half a capsicum too much, or is that ok? I was wondering because of it's high water content, but not sure if there is anything else in the capsicum to worry about.

Pretty sure bell peppers are totally safe for rabbits. The water content shouldn't have any effect on him, except to hydrate him. You should introduce new greens/veggies slowly, however, as they can cause gas and digestive upset. Just one strip at first, then increase that over a few days. If he hasn't exhibited any signs of gas, then half a pepper is probably fine. Though, what they charge here for bell peppers, Gus doesn't get more than the scraps!

Hope that helps!

Awe lol poor Gus. xD

Yeah i think mine might be a little spoiled lol. >.<

How do you tell if they have gas? Does it sound like a normal fart? I haven't heard anything like that if so. No fart smells either.

Thanks Rue. =)

Gus will have you know he's the saddest, most hard done by rabbit alive. No one loves him or cares about him. And no one EVER feeds him. :p

Bunnies with gastend to sit in the corner and look hunched up. Sometimes they'll grind their teeth. Their stomachs will feelreally round, but not necessarily hard. The treatment of choice is baby gas drops (common brand names: Infacol or Oval Drops). One dropperful (1 mL) usually does the trick.

Hope that helps!

Rue
