I will have two Holland Lops in two weeks, andthey are about 9-10 weeks old, pure bred. How old should theybe before breeding, and also, is it okay to bond them before breedingand after they are both fixed?

You will need to do more research on the internet about that mostlikely. From what I've heard - Holland Lops are among thehardest to breed successfully - I noticed Pam told you in your otherthread to make sure to have about $200 set aside for a c-section forstuck kits!

I really recommend you to think this through a bit more and read aboutbreeding - for example - you will need a nestbox to put in the cage forthe mom. You'll need to keep the parents separated as the momcan get pregnant again the same day she kindles. Do you knowhow old a baby should be before it is weaned?

You see...these are all things you need to study up on and readabout. I don't know if there is a national association forHolland Lops - but if so...you may want to find their website.

If you insist on breeding lops - I recommend Sandy Crook's book aboutlop rabbits - the name escapes me but if you check on Amazon.com you'llprobably find her book if you search using her name. It is anawesome book and I use the kindling section for information even thoughI breed lionheads.

Once again, I really don't recommend you start with lops......I knowthere are outstanding breeders who work with them - but from what I'veheard they are hard if you don't know what you're doing.

If you try to bond them before breeding, theywill BREED. I have a Holland that was showing sexuallyaggressive behavior at eight weeks!

I wouldn't recommend putting them together until they are at least six months old.
