Q-tip is shedding. Again. She started shedding big time for the first time in about April and has been fairly steadily shedding since then. This past week or two, it's gotten to be ridiculous. Every time I pet her, I unfluff about the amount of fur to build another mini-rex!!!

How is there still fur left on my bunny? Do other mini-rexes have this problem?

We've been using three to four sheets of lint roller a day (that's all she'll sit for) and brushing several times a day, and still, everything she touches turns to FLUFF! Black suit jacket? White. Black pajama shirt? White. Purple pillowcase? White.

The little creature still has a full body of fluff....how does she do this? And will it ever stop???

She's going through her next heavy molt. Rabbits molt heavily about 4 times a year, a new coat for each season! She's getting rid of her summer coat and growing in her thick fall/winter coat at the same time...which is why she isn't bald :)

Haha. Cosmo did his shedding in August. It was such a pain cause his cage was right next to my air conditioner, so when I cleaned off my AC filter, there was nothing but fluff on it xD

Good luck with the fluff though!

Q doesn't look bad. She's got fur everywhere, no bald patches. She lets me brush and fluff with my hands. But every time I touch her, it's like an explosion of fluff.

Is it normal for a heavy molt to go on this long and not have any bald spots?

Lila has been molting since August, atleast I hope it's molting... Currently she has no bald spots. Charlie started molting about a month ago and he has a few bald spots on his back..

If she has been molting for that long, something may be off. Probably something dietary. Usually the heavy part of a molt will only last 2-3 weeks at most and then the coat will come back in.

I would kick up the protein in her diet and see whether that helps kick it through. You can do this by switching to an alfalfa pellet (if you're on timothy) or adding a supplement like calf manna, oats or black oil sunflower seeds (or a combination of those). I sprinkle about a tsp over the pellets every day.

She'll love to hear that she can get some oats every day!! I'll give that a try. She's in a steady molt for a while, but periodically it kicks into high fluffing gear. That's where we are right now. I'm just shocked that she is growing new fur as fast as she's shedding!

Neither one of my rabbits has molted since I have had them (got them in early August). Then again they are on an alfalfa based pellet. I have never used a timothy pellet so do not know the difference with shedding in them.

Ugh my Big Bunny has been going through his big shed for the past week, and it's nuts!!! I ask myself the same thing! How is he not bald?? The furminator has literally saved his life. Poor guy is always grooming himself and ingesting fur.
