I am going to start buying small square bales of hay. I am not sure though where on earth I can store them. How do you guys store them?

I have done some research on this myself because I'm going to start buying hay in bulk as well. I'm going to be storing mine in large plastic bins in the garage. The hay needs to breathe so I'll be making several holes in this bin and covering the holes with wire mesh to keep the rats out. (we have rats).

In a LARGE tupperware inside. just vent it a bit and seems to keep fairly well for 6 months. After that it just seems to be less fresh, not moldy or musty, just less hay smell.

I got a large patio storage bin that's plastic and sits in the backyard next to our lawn building. I set bricks on the groundthen set a board on top of them, then set the bin on that. It's off the ground andgets air through the 1/2" ventilation holes that are in the bottom. It holds exactly one bale of hay. So far, the hay has stayed fresh.

I have a shed in which my rabbits are kept, so in the smaller side of my shed is where I keep my hay bales. I set it up on an old coffee table so that it's not right on the floor.

I have a large round plastic bin with two handles that I put a few flakes in and keep in the part where the rabbits are. When it gets empty, I just refill from the bale. :)
