I just got home from the races with my sister and Dad. The races started at 6:30. We went because they have an amazing firework show at the end of the races.
At around 8:00 the Mini Cup Future Stars (8 and 10 year old kids racing) were up in their second race. They were doing good but in lap three on turn four, two cars hit the wall. HARD! Everyone in the crowd jumped up and were like "oooh". I didn't see the crash so I had no idea how bad it was. The ambulance went down there and all the other helper cars. They had to get both boys on backboards. They put the less injured boy, Dustin in an ambulance. There were five ambulances there, several squad cars and a police car. Then they said over the intercom that they needed everyone to get out of the grandstand area and move back a bit, they were landing a helicopter to take Tyler Knittle to the hospital. Everyone immediatley thought he was injured bad. After about fifteen minutes, both boys were in ambulances being looked over and checked, the ambulance with Dustin in it went back into the pits. He was in okay condition to stay and not have to go to the hospital, apparently he only broke a leg. The MediVac landedand the announcer said that Tyler was awake and alert, shaken up a bit, and to give him a big hand because he could here us, so everyone did. Then he got put in the MediVac and was airlifted to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle.
On the next race that the Mini Cup Future Stars raced, they got together and decided todedicat it to their friends who got hurt. My sister and I thought that it so cute and sweet of them to do that.
A little bit later the announcer said that both boys were doing fine when they were checked and all. However I have no idea how Tyler is doing.
I would just like everyone to keep this little boy in your thoughts and prayers.Hopefully it will be in the paper so I can update you on his condition and injuries.
