So, Neil and I have finally decided what we're doing for our honeymoon. We were thinking of going to Thailand, but we just weren't getting excited about it... I just didn't feel like going all the way to the other side of the world to go to the beach for most of the trip... I'm not a beach person havinglived in theCaribbean for 9 years... it's not as special for me...

Anyway, so here's the plan... and I'm totally psyched.

Fly into Rome, spend time there, drive out to Monte Cassino (Neil is a WWII freak), drive down to Pompeii through Naples as fast as we can and then to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast.. spend the night in Positano.

Go back to Rome and head out to Florence. Spend about 3 days there with trips out to Pisa and Cinque Terre.

Go to Nice and spend time between there, Monaco and Cannes. Then head up to Paris for 5 days.

YEeeeeH!!

We chopped out Venice and Milan so we could do the French Riviera instead.

*insert excited dancing here*

For all you Europeans this may not be so exciting. lol.

Good job cutting Venice out. BLEGH! It left a bad taste in my mouth and a foul stench in my nose. People in Venice were not nice at all! In hindsight, I wish I would have gone to Florence.

Sounds exciting! I've studied French for the past 5 years, so I'd love to visit France some day. And I bet Italy would be fun to visit, it'd be neat to pick up some Italian. I'm kind of a language geek:biggrin2:.

Bon voyage!

Nadia, sounds like a dream! You guys will love it I bet.

An agent and her husband at my office just got back from going to Europe! I'll have to ask her again which city was her fav. I'll get a bit of info from her for you:D. Then I'll post that here for you. She really loved the trip though;).

Cool - thanks!!

Matt - I'm so bad at languages. I did french all through high school... I know words, but can't string any of them together, although i did find at one point in my last year of french I was starting to think in French...

Going to italy without any of the language is kinda intimidating... I'll be a dumb tourist trying to talk english.

:(

I think Italian words are somewhat simmilar to French words. So if you can still understand some French words, you might not be totally in the dark in Italy.

Just learn how to say important phrases like: "Do you speak English?";)

Nadia, I did ask Jan (the agent in question who went to Europe) about the language, and she said she didn't have a problem at all. She said the Brits were great and real nice and accomodating them in English:p. They go out of their way a bit to help answer questions in English;). That's a plus. I'll ask that as well and get back to you.:D Don't worry too much about that.

Do you know any Spanish? I found it easy to understand most words if they spoke very slowly because I'm fluent in Spanish. If they got excited and went off in hyper speed, forget it I was lost.

Have gelato every day three times a day! I miss it soooooooooooo much! Have some lemon gelato and stracciatela gelato for me! You shouldn't pay more than a euro or two for gelato and two to three euro for a slice of pizza. Don't worry one slice is enough. The pizza is HUGE and ridiculously delicious. It's all I ate while in Italy. It's the cheapest thing you'll find. :biggrin2:

WOOhoo, I can totally live on Gelatto and Pizza.... that's like my dream. haha. Although... November might be too cold for gelatto although I will indulge. I'm looking forward to drinking my fill of lemoncellos in Positano.

WOW! That sounds both AWESOME and EXHAUSTING! You guys are gonna need a vacation from your vacation! LOL. Seriously, though...AWESOME honeymoon! My friend just got back from her honeymoon in Nice and Prague and she said it was AMAZING! :)

We're leaving in a couple weeks I think... 2nd week of November. Booking the flights today. :D

I LOVE exhausting vacations. There are so many fantastic things to see in the world. I like to be moving all the time when I go on vacation otherwise I feel like I've wasted my time off... if that makes sense.

I specialized in Visual Art and Art History in high school (went to an Arts school... like Fame)... so I've already planned out all the museums and things I want to visit, Neil is regretting letting me go to Italy. Hahah. And I did a bunch of university courses on Rome and Roman Art History... so that's going to be awesome too - I know way too much about roman architecture and the layout of the city blah blah blah. Figured I needed to at least see it in person.

:D

Yay - you decided to go to Italy! You'll love it.:biggrin2:

Rome is beautiful, although watch out for the drivers because they are crazy! Pompei is gorgeous too, and Sorrentois so picturesque! Naples is a bit scary though!:p

I'm sure you'll have a fab time!

Nadia, just wanted to say that I spoke to the agent that went to Europe. She liked Florence best:D. She also said that if you guys are going on tours, that they will direct you. Most of the people know some English as well, so you should be okay in that regard:).

When do you guys leave?

LOL! I should hope they do, after all the Brits speak English in the UK :p.

How exciting! I hope you have an awesome time :D.
