I want to dip pinecones in a sticky substance and dust them with a treat (Like oats)

Would honey be alright? Or is there another substance I can use?

Thanks :)

Hmm I don't know. They also say dried fruit isn't good..and in moderation it is okay.

Plus; I don't see what honey has to do with rodents. I guess I understand the grain thing; but oats in small amounts and in moderation is an okay treat also for rabbits.

:/

Oats in moderation is fine. I think that a small amount of honey, mixed in some water to thin it out, might be ok. I put a teaspoon of honey in the bunny biscuits I made for the buns. But it was 1 teaspoon spread over 40 one-inch cookies, so it was really very little per serving... The sweetness level might be of concern in high concentration, for their gut... That's my best guess anyways.

Whole oats are just fine for rabbits and good for them as they are high in fiber. I like to mix up a conditioner for my rabbit that he loves. It's one cup whole oats, 1 cup of whole black sunflower seeds, and 1/4 cup of flax seed. I mix it all together and add a tablespoon 2-3 times a week.

The pine cones I have he plays with more than chews on but maybe if your pine cone has deep enough pockets you can stuff black sunflower seeds in it. I'm not sure it will stay though. I just think the honey is a bad idea because there's no way gauge how much your rabbit would get and the excess could cause digestion issues.
