I miss alot of school because I have stomach problems, and I pass out alot. So I'm missing alot of work so when I go back I have pile loads so catch up on. I talked to my mom about homeschooling and she thought it was a good idea too. Were going to go through the school instead of the online 3,000$ stuff. My mom has a meeting with one of my principals this week to see if its good, and I really hope I can. I love my school and all but this would be so much easier then haveing a pile load of work every three days. How im going now im scared i'll lose some credits because I miss when I go to the doctors and the hospital and stuff.

Anyone here homeschoold ? Any tips, storys.. Pro's, Con's ?

i've been home schooled my whole life(Pamnock also home schools. he son, Matthew is the same age as my sis-9 and in 4th). it works for me, esp. with the diabetes, it's really good. if my bs(blood sugar) is high during the night, i'm 'dumb' the next day. i just can't problem solve. and i hate to say it, but it happens a few times a month. so i do sewing or German or something easy and do a ton of it if it's not too bad. but if i was, like, 330-400 for a few hours.....i hang out on here or read a book. any way, it's good, some times the whole trying-to-do-school-with-some-one-five-grades-behind-you thing can be annoying, but for the most part it works ok. what grade are you in? if you need any text book brand idea's, i totally heart my science book, and math is pretty cool too. i love love love my English, my 'themes in literature' is on of my fave things to do. if you have any questions or fears or are having trouble(your mom being all the teachers and principal and nurse....you get where i'm going. well, it can be cool some times, but other times :X. like a few minutes ago she talked to me about my biology test, and that sorta ticked me off cause i had other things i wanted to do and she made me sit and talk about it:?:D. but she's usually pretty cool;))feel free to PM me:biggrin2::cool:

I have really enjoyed homeshooling my kids. Two are in college now, so I'm down to just homeschooling Matthew.

We use Abeka curriculum. I've hear terrible things about the cyberschool here in PA.

It's important to stay organized, keep good records and not get behind.

Homeschooling can be a wonderful experience for the student as well as a great learning experience for the parents!

I would home school my kids if we could afford it. Unfortunately, I've always been the stable breadwinner of the family. Although my husband works, and makes more, he is constantly worried about his job security. My paycheck, insurance and eventual retirement is important to our household.

Good luck with the homeschooling!

right now i am having issues with my depression and stuff so i am on home-bound. its kinda like homeschooling, my mom gets me the homework and i turn it in. i guess like, a teacher is gonna come sometime and help me or something. i don't nessisarily get taught, i figure it out on my own. but i am only on this for a while, and you have to have a doctors note.

personally i hate it and i want to go back to school. i get sick of being home all the time.
