Hi all...I'm new to the forum and also a new bunny owner. We got a mini lop a week after Christmas. I'm not sure on his age but I suspect he was around 10 or 12 weeks when we got him. He came from a pet store and they had only had him a few days. Before purchasing him, I felt like I had done a ton of research and decided on constructing a bunny condo out of storage cube shelving. My husband built it and did an amazing job. We followed a couple online tutorials and pictures from pinterest. It is three levels and all of the flooring is carpeted. Im not sure what I was thinking. I had a rabbit growing up that was litter box traibed when we got him, so I obviously wasnt thinking about pee and poop...specifically pee. He uses the litter box some, but he pees on the carpet A LOT and the odor is getting pretty bad. So, my question is, does the carpet need to come up or should we give him more time to get the litter box figured out? I also wasn't thinking about chewing when we were building it but so far he hasn't chewed at it all. The carpet is on top of plywood so I'm not sure what we would replace it with.
I'm planning on cleaning the carpet tomorrow with a little vinegar and dawn...will that be safe for him?
Thanks for any pointers you have. Our little guy has become a part of our family and I want to take good care of him.
