How do you guys cope with hot weather?
Or your other pets?

To whoever was asking, this is the exact reason we get Sparky shaved.. his fur was over 6" long (dont worry, it'll grow back) and it's doubled (undercoat & over coat) so this would be torture with the humidity.

Anyways,
We have the AC in the living room, it's a amazing window one, but it's.. heaven.

The office has 2 fans in the windows going right now. Along with super cold water dish for Pooh *sparky*

My bedroom is unbearable. Even the fact its in the basement does nothing. I have the hot water pipe in my ceiling (the house is energy efficient, and heat the house through hot water)so during the winter, it's amazing. So, I can't even sleep in my room, it's so gross and hot.

Babii, on the other side of my room is in the unfinished part of the basement, in her cage. It's actually as cold as the living room in there, so shes all comfy and good. I'm going to put some left over ceramic tiles from the kitchen into the freezer and put them in her cage later tonight (or tomorrow).

I'm freaking out, I hate being hot, sweating and..ugh. Yay showers! It's like a personal sprinkler but no one can look at you funny since you're not a child, and with yummy smelling soaps :twitch:

So, were managing.. but it's pretty hot. :(

how are you guys?

It has been at 100 degrees Fahrenheit for the past couple of days. Stay hydrated. Cold tile and frozen water bottles. Air conditioning is a God send.

t.

It snowed and hailed here on Tuesday. Today it was 80 something and really humid. It wouldn't be so bad, but I have a new job feeding, weighing, bleeding and milking (essentially wrestling) sheep that's 1.5 miles away, so I walk there in pants and boots, then get incredibly dirty, then walk home.

It gets up to 110..115 here in AZ.
I am used to it..I didn't have a vehicle until this year, so I had to walk or take the city bus in the heat.

As you all know (Well, those who read my blog) I lost a chinchilla due to the fact our A/C broke..

So I have fans on, I have frozen tiles for all the animals, and keep the A/C on of course.

And now I also have a mine "Swamp" cooler..it stays out on my balconly but in case the A/C takes a dump again we have something.

I personally am so used to it, I don't know what to say :p

Yeah, I was used to the SoCal heat, but it's dry and I hate this humidity!

At home we have a swamp cooler/fan and an A/C in the room where the buns are to keep it cool for them.

Yep, it was pretty brutal here on Sunday. Took The Dog for a walk and she almost melted on me. I don't have AC in my house; however, I'm fortunate in that the house is old and stays pretty cool even on the hottest days. I only ever have to use a fan for the rabbits if the temps get above 30C because they stay in the coolest room; Kaya and Fritz (dog and cat) need a fan a bit more than the bunnies, but not much more. And as much as I hate the humidity, I love the heat. :D At least it's not snowing! ;)

It's the humidity that kills me. If I shut the shades and shut stuff off, I can keep it in the 70s in here. But it's the dampy nastiness that I can't stand, and I don't have a fur coat! So I turn on the AC for the bunbuns :(

Here in the land of sweet weather, still waiting for even warm! :p

:pleaseplease:

(And I know its not a rabbit thread, but remember that ventilation is even more important than temperature).

sas :bunnydance:

Wow - to think we've been talking lately about how COOL it is for us at this time of year. I guess we're pretty lucky.

Now when it starts getting up to 110 with our humidity in the summer (next to the largest lake in Texas)....I'll definitely be hiding out in the a/c.

It's all relative lol!

If it was a hot breezy day in the 80s I think the buns would be ok with a fan. So would I actually. But hot and dead dampness is so nasty :(

Kansas City in the summer means weeks of 100+ days with high humidity, so I guess I am used to the heat! I am also cold if the temp is anything below 70, but prefer it right around 80.
In the summer, I set my central air to about 72 for the rabbits, and they have a ceiling fan in their room. I also keep their blinds closed to keep the hot sun out.

You know, I never knew it got sticky and gross in Ontario. Specifically, my husband and I thought about whether we would move to Toronto or somewhere thereabouts one day. I don't particularly like the cold, but I didn't think it got really hot!

Toronto is probably 10X worse then Ottawa, it's just a congested city with no end.
I woke up this morning, freezing cold, but all sweaty and gross.
Thats how bad it is here, it's so humid, the humidity doesn't care the temperature.

LOL...and I prefer Toronto to Ottawa! It's slightly warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, less humidity, less snow. Yep, more congestion, I agree 1000%. But (not having a car) I find it so much easier to get around that city than here. And there's just so much more to do there! (Of course, Lowell Green would definitely agree with you and not me, Brandy. ;))

Ironically, I didn't think Toronto was congested at all :biggrin2: All relative, I guess!

I went to Toronto once in October and once in November. I found it to be chilly, but not yet blistering cold. I'd like to see how it is in the summer months! Maybe I'll visit one year :) :)

Yeah, not having a car is better in Toronto then Ottawa.
We place things sparatically around the city so not having a car here, is kind of a downer.
Where in Toronto, everything is everywhere, so it's useful in a way.

Meh, I like the fact Ottawa has random forests in the middle of the city. (hehe, HuntClub ;0 )
