I took Corky with me today when I went to getcrix for my chamelon...one of the girls there breeds rabbits and toldme she thinks Corky is a Holland, not a mini like I thought when I gothim. She said the way he sits, the size of his ears and his over allsize leads her to believe this. Also we got Homer who wasborn the same day and he's always been alot bigger...ears included...sothat kinda made her think so even more..she also said that color isreal hard to come by in a mini...at least around here.

Don't care either way...just curious.....Thoughts? Thanks.

What is his weight when he's healthy? I thinkminis are 5-6 lbs and hollands are smaller, but I'm not sure of theirweights. And how is the spoiled little bugger doing?:D

The Mini Lop is accepted in a wide rangeof colors and patterns including solid colors, such as; black and sootyfawn, pointed white, broken, chinchilla, self, ticked, and shaded.Overall the Mini Lop has about 50 different color varieties if youinclude all of the broken and tricolor combinations. Generally theaverage Mini Lop will average between four and seven pounds. The MiniLop has sometimes been confused with the Holland Lop. They are, infact, rather different looking. The Mini Lop has a thickset body withslightly heavier hindquarters. His head is wide, with two medium long, wide lopped ears.

Holland Lops have ears that hang down about an inchbelow their jawbone and sit next to their cheeks. The head on a HollandLop should be high on its shoulders. Holland Lops go through a periodof puberty where they can look a little unattractive, but theygenerally grow out of it at about four months. Most gothrough the "uglies" at between two and four months of age. Theytypically do not finish "blooming" into their full show potential untilthey are between 12 and 18 months.

Rainbows!

My guess is a Holland. The tort coloris not very common in Minis (any where in the nation). Alsohas the very short, compact type of the Holland. His ears arelonger than desired, and his head is rather fine in structure.

Thanks Pam....figured you could shed somelight...its ok if his ears are too long, after what he's been thru withthat sore, as the vet said..he won't be a show bunny... ;)But thats ok, to me he's perfect the way he is!!

Okay, I don't agree with anyone of you. I thinkthe first rabbit is a Holland lop, because of face and body type. Thesecond picture I'm diffently saying a Mini Lop for the type of ears andbody. The tort color on the last rabbit is seen not a lot but isrecgonizable in the colors for mini's. My sister's rabbit had babieslast saturday and had a tort colored looking mini lop that is going tobe 2 weeks old tomorrow. compare the second rabbits face to this minilops face. They look a like for the faces.

Do you have any photos of the baby? (What color are the tri sire's parents and what color are the blackdoe's parents?) It is possible to get a tort out of thatcross-- but could also be a fawn.

The "mulie" type face and ears of the kit you see in the second photoare not uncommon when 2 unrelated lines are bred together or for aHolland that hasn't inherited the Dwarf gene.

My rabbit looks just like yours and she is a Holland Lop. She ranges from 4.5-3.5lbs depending on the time of year.
