I live in a high rise next to a river and the strong wind keeps knocking into the building. The walls an everything keeps creaking... It's creeping me out. I know a building has to be flexible, or it won't stand against wind but the creaking and the hard blows against the windows are so scary!!!

I live in a mobile home and when the wind blows really hard it shekes my trailer(my tie downs got stretched from hurricane ike) I really need to have them fixed

I heard that the twin towers, back when they were here, used to sway several feet sideways near the top. The building simply has to be flexible enough to sway when blown by the elements...
Scary!
I used to work on the 35th floor of a thin rectangular high rise building, and it was at the tippy tip of Manhattan. It eats wind from 3 sides since it's surrounded by the bay. I used to sit in my cubicle... feeling the building shake..... ugh.
