Hi! I was referred here by one of your wonderful members - "honeypot" (who I'd like to give a shout-out to, if she sees this!). I was telling her about my buns and how I was having a hard time finding a "community" to turn to, to help answer questions and to just connect.
So, she sent me here!
I'm excited to find this forum - I've been looking for an online group like this for quite some time! :biggrin2:
I am a soldier in the California National Guard...soon to be a sailor (again) in the Navy Reserve. I'm a full-time college student (religious studies), and I'm also a Marine Corps wife. In addition to buns, I'd love to connect with other servicemembers or spouses who may be bouncing about here!
I'm also a volunteer at the local shelter - my speciality is rabbits. I'm also starting to get involved in the San Diego House Rabbit Society; I'm thinking about joining and possibly volunteering with them as well, but we'll see how things work out in the next few months.
I have three buns - all rescues!
Snickers is the eldest - he's a silver martin (I'm pretty sure) and I adopted him last year at the Leon County Animal Shelter in Tallahassee, FL. He's the oldest, at roughly two years of age. Snickers was a "wedding present" from my husband. LOL
Yule is my little sweetheart and the next in line - she was adopted last year after Thanksgiving, from the same shelter as Snickers. She didn't come with a name, so I named her after the Christmas/Yuletide season! As far as I can tell, she's a Dutch Lop and very, very sweet (if rather ditzy). She's coming up on a year and a half.
Snickers & Yule are a bonded pair.
Keiko is our newest member of the family. She was adopted at the beginning of this month (September), from a young lady in San Diego who couldn't keep her anymore. She is not spayed yet - her appointment is this Friday! - sowe haven't tried bonding her to Snickers/Yule yet. Not sure if we are, but we'll give it a try! I don't know how old she is, but I'd say about a year; I also don't know what breed she is, but she has the prettiest bunny-face I've ever seen. She's white all over, with brown circles around her eyes and brown ears.
This November is the one-year anniversary of the Parting of the second (and most dearest) bun I've owned - Bane. He was bonded to Snickers a month, before he died in a tragic baby-gate accident (I was away from home in FL, seeing my husband off on our first deployment together, here in CA.)He's on my mind and in my heart, especially around this time of the year. I had Bane for about eight months; he was ten months old when he died. He was a beautiful silver fox andprobably my best animal friend to date.
Well...that's us and our little family! (Including husband and histhree-month-old kitten, Leo). LOLI'm excited to be here andlooking forward to meeting everyone!
