I work as a Dog groomer at my local Petsmart. Just 2 weeks ago a ball of fur in a cardboard box was brought in. Other employees took one look at the sad mess and brought it into the grooming salon. This mess was a rabbit with such matted fur that it was hard to tell exactly what it truly looked like. After a while of shaving and combing, Chompers (named because he supposedly "bit a girl") came to belong to me. I took him home and now he has a very large cage and gets exercise runs inside my room as well as outside in the grass of our yard. I've never had a rabbit before and it's quite the learning experience! This little bun allows me to walk around with him without once struggling, cuddles with me on the floor, and entertains me for hours on end with his racing around and hopping. He's gone from living in bushes (where he was found in the Arizona heat) to a very spoiled life. His first vet appointment is Tuesday to make sure everything is alright with him :). I'm glad to meet other rabbit owners!

Welcome to the forum! Oh my, poor bunny. People can just be awful, can't they? Thank you for rescuing him. He sounds adorable! I hope the poor baby comes out okay. And, another Arizona member, Undergunfire will be ecstatic:D. I can't wait to hear more about this poor dear, Chompers:shock:.

I'd like to think of it as him rescuing me. If it wasn't for how sad he looked I most likely would never have owned a rabbit not knowing the companionship they give! I would def. be missing out.

where in arizona are you? i'm in scottsdale :) you are soooo nice to take chompers in! pictures, pictures, pictures, ::chants all night::, PICTURES, PICTURES!!

I'm in Mesa, though I might as well live in Scottsdale since I'm there half the time visiting my boyfriend :p.

There will be pictures soon I promise! I just have to grab the digital camera from that father of mine (yes I live with my father and his new wifey). However, he is a half-bald boy right now with fluffy feet, but I still think he's a handsome boy!

YAY! I am dancing in my computer chair right now!

:elvis2:

ANOTHER ARIZONA MEMBER :biggrin2:! This makes only 5 of us active AZ members! You don't understand how excited I am :bunnydance:!

Anyway, welcome to the forum. I would hug you if I could :p. Where in Arizona are you?! How did you find out about the forum?

Just a heads up on some local AZ shows happening in September. I will be attending both of the shows, and "timetowaste" will be attending the September 8th show with me!

September 8th - Yavapai County Fair Grounds - Prescott Valley, AZ - shows start at 8 a.m. (you are welcome to come out to lunch with "timetowaste" and I if you come to the show:)).
September 20th - Yavapai County Fair Grounds (fair dates: 20th - 23rd) - Prescott Valley, AZ - shows start at 8 a.m.

I can't wait to talk more with you are see pictures of your baby, Chompers:)!

Hey, hardly ANYONE is in -my- little corner of the country, lol. :D

ChompersMom:

Welcome to the forum! :biggrin2: So nice to hear about your Chompers; he sounded like quite the mess, there. Be sure to post pictures! We love those here. (Is he an English Angora? I'm asking because of the whole 'indiscernable mess of a fluffball' thing )

I'm not quite sure his breed! I was told by someone who worked at Petsmart (who most likely doesn't know) that he's a mini rex, but the way his hair is would tell me otherwise. Now without his actual hair it's hard to tell but here are a few pics:

Hi there! Welcome to the forum :)

Rabbits are so awesome! They are such wonderful little critters.

Poor Chompers (love the name!). He is going to be so spoilt with you! I can already tell :).

Enjoy the forum, and of course, enjoy being a bunny parent!

Hey there Becki, welcome to RO!

LOL, he's definitely not a mini rex... Mini rexes have extremely short and plush fur. He looks like he might be a fuzzy lop with lots of ear control. If you are really curious you could post the question in the Rabbitry section for the breeders to look at for you.

Once his hair grows out I will def. post pics to figure out what he is :) thank you! If he does have a lot of ear control it must be a lot since they are always up. Can lops have their ears be constantly up?

They can, I believe. I don't believe I've ever seen any of my uppy eared buns lop their ears like yours is doing though. But posting pics when his fur grows back in the Rabbitry would be the best way to get your answers.
