Hi

i have been given a rabbit by somone i know loves me ( my nice) she knows i love animals and always have special realationships with them ( maybe they know i love them)

now she is a really cute little thing ( infact fell right in love with her)

all i know about her is ( my nice thinks) she is 3 months old

as far as i know she has a bit of a temprement ( owners before showed her no loving and kept her in a cage)
i guess this is normal
she does love to bite ( i guess again she needs more things to chew on) also needs to get to know us as she has been in the family 2 days

so like a good daddy i went out and got her the biggest cage i could find
bought her fresh fruit/lettuce and not forgetting the carrots
thought she might need the vitimines etc so i got her loads of treats with all she needs in them
got her toys and wooden stuff for her to chew on ( so it saves my fingers)

ok yes basically spoiled her ( but thats what daddys are for)

i just have a few questions

first of all ( as im worried) she looks to have had her ear broken as in it flops down and she cannot lift it
is this normal as she is young

also knowing nothing about rabbits i would love to know what breed she is if anyone can tell me

without pictures ( as i have to find hosting)
she is a agoran with mutlti coulor stripes
black/white and tan

ill post a pic as soon as i can
thanks for any help

hello and Welcome!..
i didnt see a pic when i clicked on the link.???
but some bunnies have one ear lopped (falling over)..theres nothing wrong with it...:)
food wise ur really getting ahead of urself with the food

ur 3 month old needs alfalfa based pellets and lots of either timothy hay or alfalfa hay...no veggies or treats until 6 months or so...or else ur gonna have alot of poopy butt..
after that age u have to introduce each veggie one at a time slowly ...
please try to post another pic id luv to see her:)

First, congratulations on becoming a "bunny slave". Cats have staff, dogs have owners, and bunnies have slaves. Couldn't see the pictures, but a lop ear is nothing to concern yourself about. Some cross breeds have a strange conformation to the ears when they aren't a full on lop--we had a Netherland lop mix with long, strait ears and we have a Himi lop mix whose ears stick strait out like helicopter blades. Our rabbits sometimes nibble on us which doesn't hurt, but if you have one that is seriously biting at you in attack mode you need to discourage the behavior before it escalates. The main thing here is to let your bun get comfortable in the environ and get to know and relax around you. Then you need to move on to handling and petting. Most don't like to be picked up, but, they still need to learn to trust you and allow you to handle them. We have two that are lap rabbits and will stay with you forever--not your typical rabbit. Still, you need to pick them up and hold them to brush their coat and trim nails as well as being able to take them out of their hutch for play time and to put them back. Rabbits are very social creatures and usually respond well to someone they know and trust. Best of luck and welcome to RO.

thanks very much i will work on a palece even if its a page for her on facebook ill find something

well after 2 days i think she likes me(after a dozen bites of me i dont think my blood suits to her taste)
she plays a bit but not with toys more like running around me jumping on me and over me
when it comes to picking her up she moes a bit but settles down very well

i actually let her out of the cage for most of the day
i have a great hallway where i can put her and her cage and just open it for her

and she jumps in and out as she pleases
also when i call her she comes out to play

not sure if this will work
photo.php
normally my rabit
and again
plz let me know if these work

I believe you have a lionhead rabbit. And a cute one at that!

Congratulations! Bunnies are addictive :)

thanks ( now i know the links work)

ok ill look into what a lionhead is etc
sorry the texts on facebook are in french

I took french in college so it's kind of fun to look at your page!

If you Google pictures of a "harlequin lionhead" you will see rabbits just like yours show up.

Also, there is plenty of information to read on this forum for new bunny owners. Go down to the library section, and you will find all sorts of useful information. Every rabbit's personality is different. It doesn't depend upon the breed usually, like it would in dogs/cats.

I believe there are quite a few lionhead breeders on here as well, so they would be very helpful for you too. I'm not familiar with the breed myself.

Bonne Chance! (not sure if that is spelled right ;))

Let me welcome you to Rabbits Online, my name is Dave and I am a moderator on the forum. So if I can be of any help please let me know. This is a terrific website for rabbits and their slaves, not only is it very active but also friendly. I am so glad you’re here and I know you will enjoy it.

Many bunny's recommend their slaves to this site so we may learn of others methods to keeping our furry masters happy.

If you everhave a sick bunny, please post in The Infirmary and include your rabbit's age, breed and health history as well diet and output details leading up to the problem.

I have listed some links I thought you might find interesting:

*For reference the Library section

*To brag or tell everyone about the antics of your bunny or just to talk about your day here is where to start a Bunny Blog, you can also look back at it later and remember when you had a life before your bunny.

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link tothat will help you and your bunny to connect, How To Bond With Your Bunny.

Now every forum has rules and ours can be found with this link Rabbits Online Forum Rules. This gives guidelines on what is acceptable, what is not and how we hope everyone will treat each other.

Everyone on this forum loves to see pictures of each other’s bunnies. So if you would like to post a picture this link will help you do that, Upload Photo's to Photo Gallery. Then in the post, you click on the "G" in the tool bar to insert your photo. Many people also use Photobucket. You just copy the img file and paste it into the post.

I am glad you have joined rabbits online and I look forward to seeing you around.

oh FINALLY i can see ur bun!!..WOW shes a looker aint she?...what a gorgeous color! ..her one ear up and one ear down is sooo cute!..

Nice rabbit. BTW your bunny is a lionhead lop mix. I have a lionhead mix doe, named Sweetie. your bunny looks like a lionhead lop mix.

thanks everyone i was really worried about her ear
and you have put my worries to rest
also when i tickle her ears they both stand up which also put some of my worries to rest ill get more pics up later to day

these pics was taken with theonbord flash
usually use sports mode for her as she moves fast with an iso of 800 or more and use all over focal points for lighting
as she moves fast a fixed point would be pointless
