Hi, my name is Paula.
I acquiredafemale rabbit a few years ago (Coco), and I found another tame one next to the roadside on Easter sunday this year (Easter)... so of course we now have babies!
Coco is small and mousebrowish coloured with what looks like agouti and pale underneath and around the eyes, and Easter is also small, but he's black, with feint agouti I think. (Each hair is not completely black from root to tip)
They've had 3 babies so far. one islight brown with pale inside it's little ears and underneath, but 2 are blackand white, exactly like Dutch rabbit colouring. Is it common for this colouring to result from parents with no white markings. And what bethe most likely colours to get from the black and white babies when bred to the father or each other? I'm just interested to know... the genetics websites are very complicated.
None of them have completely solid coats... if they were horses, I'd say they were all carrying the roan gene!
I'll try andpost some pics ifanyone isinterested, but I'm just curious about where the Dutch rabbit colouring came from!
Thanks, Paula
