Hey Ya'll, I have been thinking about growing herbs for my bunnies for awhile, and now I am finally going to do it! I would like to start with parsley, basil, cilantro, and wheat grass. I do have a few questions though:

- There seems to be many different types of parsley and basil (don't know about the others)...which one is best for rabbits?

- What kind of *safe* soil do you use for growing?

- And I can't seem to find wheat grass seeds anywhere! I have looked at Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc...where can you find wheat grass?

have you tries looking at an actual nursery and not one of those big box stores?
No I have not...I live out in the country and there are nurseries scattered everywhere...I'm afraid that would be like a wild goose chase! There is a wonderful, fresh produce section at one of the flea markets that I might try...they have everything there! The only thing is, is that it's about 45 minutes to an hour away.

Any type of basil is fine, except for one which is called "holy basil" and is not really grown for eating.
Both Italian (aka flat leaf) and curly parsleys are fine.

I start mine off in regular potting soil, then plant them out in the garden.

You grow it from the "wheat berries", the grains of wheat. Try a health food store where you can buy grains etc in bulk.

Thanks for answering my questions! As for now, I am going to stick to growing parsley, basil, and cilantro...growing wheat grass seems complicated (though I could be wrong).
