Is hemp string safe to use when making toys? I have a spool of hemp string from making bracelets and was wondering if I could use it to string together some paper towel rolls or pieces of wood to give to my rabbit.

Best I can tell, hemp would compare favourably with sisal (which is a component of a number of rabbit toys).
Both are vegetative fibres.
Hopefully someone else has personal experience :)

I would be a bit worried about hemp, as they are from the cannabis family and quite probably contain a fair few chemicals which could be bad for rabbits.

Hey there...

I make toys for OREO here in Ontario...we have used hemp, sisal , jute...all are edible and safe...but for the most part many rabbits don't really bother with it. They usually chew it to knock the toy down and then demolish the toy while leaving the string! Hey...what fun is the string once you take out the toy anyway! LOL :D
