Well I'm going on a school trip to Switzerland skiiing...

I've never been skiing before! I've had 1 lesson a dry hill slope...

Anyway I'm just planning on going to play in the snow and attempt a few lessons. It will be alot of fun anyway!

The main question I have is... what do I need to buy? I'm going to buy all my kit soon but I don't know what I need! I've looked up on the ski sites and I gather I need a jacket, trousers, and thermals to go underneath but what do I really need? They have like thermals and base layers and insulators etc and I don't know which I am supposed to be getting!

Also do I need to get a pair of glasses?

I'm so confused! At least the skis and poles are included!

Oooh I went skiing on a school trip to Switzerland a few years ago - it was really good! I'm going on another ski trip in February, to the US. :)

With us, a ski gear hire company comes to the school a few weeks before we go, and we can hire the jacket and trousers, and buy the other things. (You can buy jackets etc. in TK Maxx I think). Yep, you need ski goggles, the sun reflects off the snow and can be really bad for your eyes, as far as I remember. You should get ski gloves too. The ski boots will be included in the ski hire. Hmm.. what else.. ski socks I remember wearing them.. we have to wear ski helmets this time. :? Bring sun cream too - it was very sunny when I went to Switzerland even though it was cold. Can't think of anything else.. when are you going?

I love skiiing, Fran!
You'll have an awesome time!
Just remember to always keep your feet together, and do wide s curves across the slope for the dfirst few runs. Bombing straight down is a recipe for disaster :)

They are offering ski wear for hire but I've been told by the teacher (who has run this trip for about 5 years) not to get it, as its apparently really gross and in bad condition. And smelly, apparently :?. I'm asking for everything for Christmas and my Birthday.

I didn't do badly in my 1 lesson, but apparently dry hill is alot more difficult. There are 5 hours of lessons a day, the trip is 5 days, but I'm guessing there is gonna be some chance for us to do our own thing when we feel more confident. Plus apparently the drinking age is 16, so although I'll already be 18 by then, I think we will probably be going out to bars and clubs a few nights (the teachers said in assembly that we will be going to some VERY SUPERVISED places but I have heard differently!)

I'm now on the hunt for a stylish jacket, I'm thinking red, cos I've got to look stylish!

Oh and I'm going in Feb, half term :D

I wore a hot pink ski-suit once I was able to do jumps half decently.
Just don't try to show-off too much if you're wearing a bright colour... I learned the hard way how not to impress boys :p

Some ppl sweat a lot in their ski suits
 HEY ! is this where they ski in bikinis????

Haha, yeah its the boys school trip, so there are 3 girls! I'm gonna be so bad though, I just hope they all get so drunk they spend half the time rolling around in the snow like last year.
