I've got to create a portfolio of all the stuff I've made/done to take to an interview for art college. I'm really worried, as we are supposed to bring along something like an art sketchbook or folder of work, but I do technology, and alot of it is boring writing! I decided to make a complete portfolio of all the stuff I can do and just add in pages of things like my technology folder to show I can do it, but without boring them to death!

So I need some help in the selection of what to put in, as I don't want to bombard them, but want to show stuff that is the most 'impressive' and maybe do one page with all the stuff I've missed out just in brief.

So If you would be able to tell me what you like, what you don't like, what your REALLY like, and anything basically about what I could put in!

My Spring Crown: Inspired by Les Saisons by Alphonse Mucha (I will get a much better photo of this)

I also have various not very good sketches (I am not a drawer!)

Thank you so much for anyone who looks through these!

I suppose I wouldn't be any help if I said put them all in but I just want to say Fran you are amazing

I think you should try and get quite a selection in so they can see a range of what you can do, maybe a picture of the dress, some of the photos, definetly the light up cupboard thing.

I don't really know though, they are all great :)

I think (pics) 1,3,6,7,8,9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, and the last photo are lovely, and I LOVE the "love" painting and scrap book especially.

i'd say the bedside table, the dress with the flowers on it is awsome...umm...deff. put the kitty in the sun and the panoramic view below it and the scrapbook(which i totally love!:biggrin2:)

but all of it is really cool, those are just my faves and what i think looks most professional:)

Fran, you are talented in so many ways! I am in LOVE with the bedside table-ahh, I want one!! Good luck with your portfolio; I know you'll be great!

Believe it or not, the only one I DON'T like is the one of the rabbit. The composition is a little cluttered. Everything else is great!!!

I have to agree with that actually, I was browsing through my photos when I was making a folder of what I wanted to put in, and I was looking at thumbnails. That picture looked really cool but when I uploaded it it didn't look very good! But hey, I though someone might think it looked cool so I put it up anyway!

I think so far I'm definitely going to put in the bedside table, and also the rose shot, Love picture and also the NVA thing. The NVA thing looks kina boring but it was a commission, so it shows I can work from a brief, and it was for charity too so I guess thats always a good thing to throw in.

I've just got to write my personal statement now. NOT looking forward to that!

First, I just want to say that you are extremely talented! Awesome work!

As for what to include in a portfolio, it's really nice to have a focus. Like, have an assortment, but divide it up by categories. So, like 2 photography examples, 2 3-D examples (the headpiece and the table...only photos of course as they usually don't care for people lugging everything around), etc. It's really important to have a focus.

What are you going to art school for particularly?

Yeah I was thining of dividing it into 'chapters'. It says they want it in a clear and chronological order.

I'm going to do a foundation in Art and Design. Its basically a year of doing everything. First term is constantly rotating through different topics like fine art, photography, printmaking, video, textiles... everything. Second term you choose two of your faves and learn more about them, third term you work on an individual piece on your own. It is supposed to be set on one particular topic but you can use aspects of everything you have learnt (e.g making the props in wood work for a film you are making, make the costumes and clothing for a photography shoot).
