Hi, my husband brought home a bunny about a month ago. The bunny was supposedly 3 weeks old and he bought it from a feed store. Hip Hop was cute, small n healthy. After a while he started losing fur but now he looks so bad. The first pic is when we had him for a week. The other 2 are how he looks now, his belly had no fur. He eats the food we bought from feed store and we realized he was eating the dogs food we also buy at feed store. Will try and upload pic please help I don't know what to do.

I'm going to say that he has mites. You need to take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY.
Three weeks is also WAY too young to get a rabbit at a feed store and I suggest that you report them. In most states it is illegal to sell a rabbit before 8 weeks of age. That of course, isn't your fault, but the bad breed he came from and the stupid feed store who sold him.

I suggest taking him to the vet. If you let us know where you are, someone might have a good vet recommendation.

I agree with whitelop, I was shocked when you said 3 weeks :shock2: my rabbit was 7 weeks when I got him, usually 6-8 are okay by law but I would report them and consider switching stores 1. for moral reasons 2. for the fact that if they made that huge error who knows what else they're lying about/doing wrong. They could tell you a rabbit food that is "high quality" when it it loaded with seeds which is harmful for rabbits. And take to a vet immedietly! It is either mites or the problem with the food causing the hair to fall out. :pullhair: GOod luck! I'll keep her in my prayers

Oh, I didn't even think about a food allergy. I guess maybe that doesn't come up with rabbits as much.
BUT I had a golden retriever who was allergic to corn. Do you know how hard it is to find a dog food that doesn't have corn? I had to go to hollistic food. That was corn/gluten/by-product free, it cost me a fortune but it was totally worth it for her not to scratch anymore and to grow her fur back.

Anyway, what are you feeding this little bun? Anything with nuts/seeds, little colorful bits isn't good for them.

Probably has mites, you need to take him to the vet ASAP. 3 weeks is too young, they should be still nursing at that point, and would have just began to nibble solid food, and taste water. He will need some extra care and attention.

I instantly think mites like cheyletiella or mange when I see that. I suppose food allergy could be an issue, but that wouldn't be my first guess because food allergies causing this type of thing aren't that common in bunnies (please correct me someone if I'm wrong on that). Another possibility could be a fungal infection like ringworm.

Is the bunny doing a lot of itching? What about flakiness in the skin? Are you breaking out in rashes or itchy when you handle this bunny?

Getting the bunny to the vet would be a good idea as soon as possible. They'll likely want to put your bunny on either Revolution (selamectin) or ivermectin or if it's a fungal infection give you the proper medication for that.

Maybe you could visit that feed store and find out if any other bunnies there have broken out with something similar? That might get you some information.

Agree with him being emaciated. You might want to do some online research about the food you currently feed him, and definitely keep him away from the dog's food, meat proteins are very bad for bunnies!

Yikes! Have you got any hay for him? I would really push the hay and slowly take his feed away. Any updates on him?

This rabbit does not look emaciated. With the fur gone it makes them seem smaller than they really are. Also he is growing he's not going to be as filled out. Another key thing to point out is that rabbits shouldn't balloon out like many pet rabbits do, an obese rabbit is just as unhealthy as an underweight rabbit. This rabbit looks to be at a healthy weight. However he does look to have some parasite or skin condition that does need to be looked at. Either way a vet trip should be in the line for this little guy.

Also it could very well be mites if you kept him outside, or let him run outside he could have picked up mites.
