Hello everyone, the babies are almost 4 weeksold, they seem to be on complete food. They eat all mommysfood and never seem to chase her round the cage for a drink any more (iam sure the prob sneak a bit when i am not there lol). They also drinkout the water bottle and nibble alot of ffruit and veg, i also gavethem some grass yesterday. Anyway they are doing exetremely well andare very fat and healthy.

Here are some questions.

1) I heard the earliest you should remove them from there mum is 5weeks, i am thinking of removing them at5weeksbecause the mum already gets angry with them and snortsat them. They are also fit and healthy as i said and dont seem to feedoff her anymore. (up to a just under a week ago, i always saw themfeed). Does anyone recommend me to this?

2) the summers finally arriving here, when can i take themout for a run around in the garden? - i am planning on buying a runjust for them soon!

3) Roxy usually stays in my garden, i bought her inside during herpregnancy and up til now with the litter as the weather was very cold. But now the kits are very very furry and the warm weathers here, do youthink icould put the cage back outside now?

Thanks for any answers to any of these questions!!! More pics will hopefully be coming soon, Leanne :)

morning Leanne , you can move them out fromMommys cage BUT! the should realy stay with her 2 more weeks unless theMommy is getting aggressive with them , i dont like to have to movethem till they are nearly 6 weeks old but sometimes when the mommy getsviolent and enough is enough well you may have no choice but to movethem .
If you do hon keep them where you can keep a constant eye on them , besure they are eating pooping and such good luck .

grumble grumble after thought :: your not goingto put the babies outside are you , if you do they HAVE to stay wiiththe mother for warmth !!

Thanks Gypsy! I was planning on putting themoutside WITH their mother today and then taking them away from theirmother in 1 - 2 weeks. Is this ok? Also, will the kits be ok runningaround on the grass at this age as i really want to let them have agood run around out there, leanne :)

Yes in 1 = 2 weeks they can be seperated from the mom , and they will be fine
as for letting them run around on the outside lets take a few thingsinto consideration ok , is the air temp warm ? has the ground warmed upto a sufficent temperature ? is there any snow on the ground ? allthese are factores to take into concideration , do you have a playpentype fence ( round pen ) so your not chasing babies hither and yon lolonce they get moving they may be hard to catch lol . If all abovefactors are favorable go ahead let them have a bit of a run butremember babies tire easily ! most of all HAVE FUN!!! its going to bewild and funny , . make sure you have camera ready with a super fastshutter lol

The air isnt as warm today but is still a fair temp, so is the ground. There is no snow - theres never any snow here :(! I have a run for themto run around in! but i wasnt sure about letting them out because ihave read before that they can pick up diseases at young ages so iwasnt sure if they were old enough! Leanne :)

I wil try post pics of it too!

i realize most Breeders dont let their bunnieson the ground because of pearsites which is very understandable . ifyou stop and think aboutit ebing inside can aslo create and envoronmentfor parasites , one has to walk inside and outside many times a day ,carring in germs bacteria and parasites granted theres a lot more onthe outside than most will pick up and bring inside , The choice isyours , my rabbits have an outside pen complete with under wire so theycant dig out , it has a top so no flying painsin the butts can grabthem ( hawks ) . so far i havent had any probs with parasites , evenwith my cats

ok thankyou, i thought it was just a young thing,i have 4 cats and no problems, my rabbit also has run outside as itsattached to his cage! Oh well, i already let them have a run now!

ok so maybe i made a mistake on the feedingthing. I just saw her feeding them, they are so big now they werepushing eachother out of the way making as much noise as the possiblycould- awww. When i let them on the grass, i let them run freely in thegarden as during the winter, the run has completely broken. Anyway, surprisingly they were very easy to catch! More pics tomorrow hopefully!

Leanne :)

I have weaned bunnies at 4 weeks when the motherwas nasty with them and biting their ears,in that case i leave thebabies together for 8 weeks.bluebird

As i said, i was planning on putting my bunniesoutside soon. Well today was gonna be the day as it has been reallysunny, i even had all 5 rabbits running round on the grass earlier. Then i decided i was too lazy today and would do it tomorrow! wow, i amglad of my laziness! we dont get them often, but there is extremelyloud thunder and lightning outside now! i know its not the worst thingever but i dont think it owuld have been very good experience for themas their first time outside - very very wet, very very loud and veryvery bright, lol! its happening as i say it!!!
