My 2.5 year old rabbit, Stellar (female, hotot x lionhead) had her first vet visit this past week because she wasn't eating/pooping. The vet diagnosed her as having stasis and gave me the Oxbow Critical Care powder stuff to feed to her. He also recommended unsweetened pineapple juice for her.

She has since gotten her appetite back and is pooing pretty much back the way she was. She's also energetic again and is back to her old spunky habits.

But!

Since she was sick, she's lost a noticeable amount of weight and her hair's not as smooth as it used to be. She's also shedding more.

I'd like to see her gain her weight back...does anyone have any suggestions?

She currently eats timothy hay and a scoop of Living World Extrusion Pellets. She also gets a yogurt drop once a day. I've also still been feeding her the Critical Care mixed with unsweetened apple sauce (the only way she will tolerate eating it). She "free-grazes" on her food, but I only add more pellets once a day.

Maybe up the pellets? Give extra I mean. Some people add in rolled oats for weight gain, but if I were you I'd hate to try too much and possibly start up stasis again. :/ hmm I'm not sure.

Black oil sunflower seeds are good for the coat and will help with the weight. Just don't give too much. I will put about 20 or so of them with the rabbit pellets every few days. You might call the vet also and ask him what would be safe, given your rabbit's previous problem.
