Hi there,

About a week ago our friends found an abandoned bunny. He's definitely a pet because he's very tame, doesn't bite, and likes people. They put up lost posters but nobody has claimed him. Being unable to take care of him, we brought him home with us and have fallen in love with him! We are calling him Trumphet and are really hoping we get to keep him.

Does anyone know what type of bunny this is?

Thanks :)

He looks like a Holland lop to me. I'm not a bunny breed expert or anything, so don't quote me. Someone else might know better what he is.
It would also depend on what size he is. How much does he weigh?

He is very lucky to have found you! But he is adorable, no matter what breed he is!
Oh and :welcome1 to RO!

Thanks! We feel super lucky

Is there any way of telling how old he is?

Also, we think he might be sort of deaf...he doesn't seem to hear us and then gets startled when he sees us, even though we talk to him to give him warning that we're coming..

His hair is super soft and he doesn't seem to shed at all. We bought a soft cat brush for him but it doesn't seem to do anything..

I personally couldn't tell you how to tell the age. Someone else might be able to.
But if you take him to a rabbit savvy vet, the vet should be able to give you a good guess.

After a quick google search, I think Holland lops reach full size at about 6 months of age.
I think they should weigh like 2-4 lbs.
I have a mini lop, so she is bigger than a Holland. And, my mini is bigger than what is regulated I think.
Again, someone may correct me if I'm wrong about any of the size/age things.
