Hi, I'm PhoenixFlare

I have one rabbit named Peter. I think he's a havana rabbit, but I got him from a shelter, so I'll never know for sure. Peter can be extremely aggressive, and I've tried everything. He'll attack anyone who walks into the room where I let him hop around, and almost always draws blood. He'll suddenly snap and bite at your arm when you're holding him. D:

Hi. ^^
Yes, Peter's fixed and has all of his shots up to date. ^^

No, I'm not sure if the SPCA knew of his problems...they had him for two years until I adopted him. :/ He seemed so sweet and lovable until he started biting (A week after I brought him home. And I was letting him have his space and everything when I got him!). :( He keeps getting worse. D:

Of topic, but do you know anything about identifying breeds of rabbit? He seems like a Havana, but I can't tell.
His pics are here-->http://www.rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=71508&forum_id=8

It sounds like the shelter was unable to do more than fill the physical needs of the animals, so he might have been upset & afraid the whole time he was there. You should wear gloves when you pick him up, which shouldn't be very long at a time. Sit next to him & talk to him without touching. Sometimes sit there but ignore him & see if he tries to get your attention.

I can pick him up fine and without problems, but he honestly attacks people when they walk into the room where he's hopping around. :( I've tried squealing when he bites, gently pushing his head down, and just being extremely nice to him, but it isn't working. None of my friends want to be around him, even friends who have experience with pets. D: Everyone gets bit sooner or later. (even my dad's TERRIFIED of him)

He's five now, and I'm hoping that I can still get him trained to be a gentle bunny. Apart from his nasty aggression, he's extremely inteligent and has a huge personality---he trots around like he's the center of the universe. XD

Welcome to RO! So glad to hear this bunny has found someone who will work with him. If he's that possessive of his space, I would limit the space he has. Work slowly to let this bunny know that the people he's around will not hurt him. 5 years old, he's kind of set in his ways. Biting has become his defense. I truly think you can break that bad habit. Get leather gloves and talk to him a bit before you touch. Get an xpen and let him out and be around the people in your home. You need for him to gain your trust. Though in a shelter he is being taken care of, but may not be handled. And his life prior to the shelter, he may never been touched.

Time and Patience is the key. Wishing you all the luck. Just don't give up.

K:)
