Hi All!

I'm Plex, I live in Perth, WA...and I picked up my long-awaited house bunny yesterday!

His name was Nibbler, and the OH and I decided not to change it. He was sold to the previous owners as a "dwarf lop", but I have some vague suspicions about the "dwarf" bit...mostly because he's HUGE, weighing at least 5 kilos :p He's only half a lop too, he has one floppy ear, and one ear that stands up...it's so charming.

I also have two pet rats, called Molly and Harriet...they are very spoiled little madams, and aren't liking this new smell too much. I'm a member of an Australian rat forum and group, so I thought it best to find a group for rabbit-folk to help with my bunny education :) And for rabbit pic-spamming too, of course!

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi Plex and Nibbler and welcome..

You have come to the right place to learn everything on your bunny..there is so much info on this forum..and lots of members willing to help in every way possible..

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your new bunny...

Hi,

Congratulations on obtaining Nibbler. Sounds like a sweet guy. Love to see those wonky ears. Think it gives them character.

Also would love to see pics of your Rats, Molly and Harriet. I've never had a rat as a pet, but know someone who does and they say they are just as awesome as rabbits. Seen pics of her new babies. They are precious.

I guess Harriet and Molly would question the smell of the newby, Nibbler. Hoping all are settling in.

Look forward to discussing bunnies, and if you don't mind, rats too.

Thanks for the welcomes :)

Rats are definitely awesome animals to share your home with. I love my rats to pieces, they never fail to cheer me up.

My girlies are very adventurous, so I'm hoping their natural curiosity will outweigh any fear they have of Nibbler.

I'll have some pictures up very soon, and I'm always up for discussing rats :)

Yeah rats are good little pets..i have had five in the past..very spoiled little buggers they were....i lost them all through tumours though....rats are very prone to tumours..my little girl Poppy was just an awesome rat girl..

Would love to see pictures of them :)

Harriet likes to scoop my tea up in her hands and lick it off...and make a huge mess :)

Love Nibbler's wonky ears. And Molly and Harriet are just so precious. Love seeing Harriet taking her tea break.

Question about Nibbler, do you have a crate for him or is he free roam. Maybe if you crate him for a bit, you can than observe him drink. Also giving him more opportunity to eat his hay. Once you see that he's drinking, eating, pooing and peeing, then you can let him have his freedom. Maybe too much overload and giving him a temporary secure place to settle could help things move along. Just something to think about.

Thanks so much for sharing pics.

I do have a hutch for him, but I left it wide open for him to just free roam. That's actually a good thought, I'll get the hutch set up now!

Hello and welcome to RO! Nibbler is so cute! I saw on another thread that he hasn't been going to the bathroom. Maybe he's been eating too much phone book and not enough pellets?

I love rats! We had 5, and they were fun as can be! I'd have gotten more, but hubby was having no parts of it. So now we have house bunnies instead. hahaha

Molly and Harriet are such cuties! We had to hoodies, too...Farrah and Fawcet. We picked those up at the local humane society. We also had three REWS and had to put a different colored drop of food coloring on two of them, so the kids knew which rat was which. LOL

Glad you found the forum, and look forward to seeing more pictures of all your critters. :)
