Hello everyone!
We are both excited to have found this bunny forum. We fell in love with rabbits by accident when looking for a new animal addition to our family. Instead of looking at your typical dog or cat (we already have a small bichon x shih tzu dog) we somehow got interested by rabbits, and are glad we did so! Here is our stories about how Nova and Sydney came into our lives.
We first adopted our little man Nova from our local rabbit rescue organization (Vancouver Rescue Rabbit Advocacy). His story is common and shared by many pet store bunnies. His last owners bought him because he was small and adorable, but soon got bored of him and surrendered him to the organization. When we found VRRA we went to visit the organization and saw little Nova running circles in his outdoor pen. He was a blur of black! We were introduced to a few rabbits but Nova was still on our minds. So we requested to meet him and instantly fell more in love. He came home with us that day. He's still our shy little boy, but loves running back and forth in our hallway every morning. He really is a big suck for attention but on his terms.
About 9 months after getting Nova we decided that he needed a friend. He was still shy and liked hanging out by himself more than with us. We went back to VRRA with Nova in his carrier and the first little girl (also lion head) he was introduced to he instantly liked! Her name was Sydney. Sydney was found in a park abandoned by her owner. It only took us 2 weeks to completely bond them. Sydney is always interesting to watch. She's assertive and will walk all over you for a treat. She'll jump onto the bed or the couch and gets herself into all kinds of trouble. After being together for a while we found that Nova and Sydney balanced each other out. Sydney is Nova's more out-going and trouble-making counterpart. A match made in heaven.
We're here to learn more about rabbits and to share our love of rabbits with others like us. Please visit our gallery to see more pictures of our ribbits (yes our nickname for the two).
Glad to be here and hoping to make some bunny-lover friends!
